My new Guitar and Amp arrived yesterday (pic below), so I had to record something! This was a consequence of a GAS attack from a "too good to pass up Fender sale":
Fender Mustang LT50 50W Amp (with built in effects) - $149!
Squier (by Fender) Classic Vibe 60s Strat - $249!
I used the USB recording output on the amp (later I will try putting a mic in front of the speaker...). I used amp model "60s UK Clean" (based on Vox AC30), with only "small room reverb". I recorded one track with the neck pickup and panned it left, and one with the bridge pickup panned right. I tripled the vocals. All the other instruments are MIDI using Sample Tank 3 and EZ Drummer 1.
Edit: Redid some vocals and redid mix...
Now you got smiling this was our theme song in my younger days the new toys sound great and the layered vocal is spot on
Tim
Des, the new Strat looks great and the Mustang amp sounds excellent using the USB connection. A cool version of this song!
Nice job on this old chestnut, des. And congrats again on the new gear!
What a version! What a sunny voice! What a groovy delight! The only thing this song is not is wild. This is the rated G version. All ages admitted (The weird solo part did make me re-think that "admitted" part though :D)).
Great sounds and a fun vibe. This is the opposite of what i would do. Which is a good thing!
Congrats on the new gear. It suits you well.
Well done on this... I do love those new additions to your gear collection and they sound great. Your Strat has that famous jangle for sure... great job.
Mike
Hi desOfree,
Congratulations on your new toys.
The Strat + the Mustang sounds great.
It so fun to be playing with brand new cool things, and I can hear the joy in your singing.
And they look good!!!
Rene
the coolest thing about this post beside the great music is the joy i hear in your voice...it's like a youngster that is keeping a secret and laughing inside, but it just bubbles out...
wicked cool new gear and me being the bargain hunter I am feel like you have done an amazing thing here... at those prices how could you not?
the whole thing is great but that perfect keyboard sounds just like the record... actually you could take this and put it on the radio and I think it would pass just fine! cool post Doug.. also it sounds neat that USB out of amp... and the panning
This has become a real earworm! I think you managed to bring some of the fun & innocence back that was in the original Troggs version and was lost in the later cover versions.
ah I liked this song of the Troggs in 1965, I could have put it in quote in my Rockcollection suite which included only songs of 65, 66 ;)
But Doug it's Christmas before time nice shot with this Fender Squier and Mustang amp and it sounds really good
