This is the theme from an obscure (and now forgotten) Italian TV hospital drama called 'Ospedale Municipale' (Municipal Hospital) from 1980. There are nuns - and illicit love interests between them and the consultant doctors. Plus life and death decisions. The kind of cheap, badly-acted soap that used to fill afternoon schedules for the unemployed. Maybe they still have them - I haven't watched daytime TV for a very long time.
All done on the MBR. Epiphone Casino (with some phaser), more Casino, bass, MiniMoog synth (for a proper retro sound), plus Garageband piano, drums & extra synths.
I enjoyed this challenge - a totally different world.
I even made a little title film to bring it to life (I don't have proper film-making gear, so forgive the quality). Footage from some random film.

Brilliant - you've absolutely nailed that crappy TV drama theme tune sound with this and a great video to go with it ! So authentic that it almost sounds familiar. Great start to the fest.

Absolutely brilliant. Period-authentic arrangement and instrumentation, and a very catchy theme it is! And the video would make a great pitch reel - I'd watch this show.

Yeah I can actually believe this is from a 70's foreign tv show or something..great use of music and style. Like the vid too.

An excellent piece to suit the fest, Tim. This shows your outstanding versatility and your ability to produce whatever is called for. Great instrumentation and you've nailed that cheesey vibe that the 70's daytime soap shows were renowned for.

Even without vocals, you have a knack for writing great melodies. The synths sound so frigging cool, very retro sounding indeed (is that a real mini moog you have by the way?). I love the bridge too, gives off a totally different vibe but really fits so well with the first section. Bravo!

Sometimes I listen to the music made for TV or commercials and I feel sad for the composers and musicians, like they must be dead inside. And then I'll hear a moment in the music that sounds like they're not dead yet.
You've achieved that effect here. The beginning and end have a "phoning it in" feel to it, but the transition to the middle section (at about the 1:00) seems very Greeny.

I just had a call with Roberto di Testa, the main character, that is by chance a family friend of ours. He cried when he heard we've found this lost trailer ... yes it was badly acted LoL, except for the thing that he was really in love with syster Mary (Vittoria Torta). Tought you wanted to know!

How kind of you to tell! But as always there's two sides to a story. I think it's the case of young love and reminiscing that makes one to look back with rosy eyes. Mr. Testa must have forgotten about the infamous "torta" incident at the monastery...
