Title: DESAFINADO (revisited) cover JOAO GILBERTO and STAN GETZ
Post by: Jean Pierre on April 21, 2022, 09:09:53 AM
it's a small world! my new neighbour, Julien  in savoie (France) is a saxophone teacher at the conservatory of music  and he was kind enough to add a saxophone track (in one take!) on my desafinado cover

reminds me of "Smooth Operator" by Sade.  very lovely and elegant work here JP.  I have had this playing quietly in the background for a while trying to get alone enough to hear it properly..

I enjoy hearing you sing in non english even though I don't know what you are singing.. I actually like to try and mimic so of it..

Wow! Big kudos for singing in Portuguese!!! It is very good, I can understand every word! (except that "eu possuo apenas o que "diumidiu"  ;) "

I haven't commented, but I have been listening to many of the songs you have been posting. I really appreciate your eclectic taste and not being afraid in taking your own vision of so many Classicals (capital letter on purpose).

We have to make a jazz collaboration one of these days. I don't have my double bass with me, I will have to play with my electric bass.

Fantastic cover, JP. I love Bossa Nova, especially that of the Getz/Gilberto recordings of the Sixties. Saxophone is such an incredibly expressive instrument and it sounds great here. You're so lucky to have this neighbor!

Beautiful!

This is truly beautiful Jean Pierre!
The sax is a very nice addition to your wonderful recording.
I love this song, and thanks for sharing.

Je suis vraiment étonné que Dasilvasing comprenne tous les mots en portugais..car je ne parle pas un mot de portugais! je fais tout en phonétique  :)  :)  :)

anytime, with pleasure, I will ask my young saxophonist neighbour Julien for a new participation
This guy is amazing we did two recordings yesterday of his sax on two of my covers (the second one, which I will post as soon as mixed, is an addition on "in a sentimental mood" )

This guy is incredible he did one direct take after opening the chord grid in his phone application!...it's true that he is a jazz sax teacher at the conservatory of music in Chambery (in Savoie, France)

Wow, this is amazing JP! I thought to myself "No way is someone playing that sax, it's got to be another recording" Think again! Amazing he did this in one take, you guys are pros! Excellent vocal and guitar playing, I love your takes on Jazz and Chanson music and this is another fabulous cover.

Thanks BP yes it was amazing he listened once to my version of vocal guitar, asked me what key it was in (it was Fmaj ) he opened an app on his phone (Irealpro ) which displayed the chord grid he put on the headphones and played in rerecording a sax track in one take, I just added afterwards some reverb

so he did a sax track on my version of Duke Ellington's In a Sentimental Mood, (still improvised in one take) I'll post it tomorrow
