I've recently been binge watching a BBC comedy/thriller series written by Stephen Merchant, and became quite attached to the theme tune.
As a result, I decided to write & record my own Spaghetti Western style instrumental.
So, with no further ado, this is They Died With Their Boots on. :)
Recorded using Presonus Studio One & IPad Garageband
Pretty awesome. Very Ennio Marrcone-ish. Terrific production. What was you guitar rig for this?
Great track and I can see Clint Eastwood standing in the main street of Dodge chewing on a cheroot waiting for his adversary to make his move. Lovely production that fits the genre so well.
nice track well mixed and great guitar work , nice listen .....cheers tony cee
I like stuff like this. Has alot of neat effects. Shout out to the harmonica. That guitar defo reminds of the westerns..... and western music in the country and western (used to be a genre).
This would make a nice piece for a TV show or a scene in a movie. Love the swirly keys too. Nice job.
Cool song .. very well done .. really like the effects ..
I also can see Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef prepare to duel ..
Great work
Thanks for the listens everyone & many thanks for the comparisons with Ennio Morricone as well as the visions of Eastwood & Van Cleef. :)

I used a Presonus Audiobox 96 USB audio interface into Presonus Studio One & an Ampire plugin (Fender Blackface Twin sim). Likewise the bass was recorded in the same way, but using an Ampeg SVT sim. All the drums, keyboards & strings are provided by iPad Garageband.
Thanks very much for asking. 8)
Perfectly done, really enjoyed this alot.
Rock on!
Good tune ... can imagine that as the theme tune for a western film or tv series.

Spaghetti western music as played by The Shadows. The drum arrangement is clever and there's lots of small details to be heard in this one. Great playing! An all around enjoyable song in a genre that's quite hard to do properly.
Very well done! This could fit into any Clint western as the theme song. I've always wanted to do one of these but never got to it...but I still have the yearning. Nicely done!
Instrumental music at its best! The production works fine, too.
Enjoyable listening!

Cheers, I program the drums myself (mostly in step time) using iPad Garageband, so I'm pleased you appreciated it. :)

And another thanks. I've been immersing myself in Presonus Studio One & trying to learn the various techniques for recording, mixing & mastering. There's still so much to learn, but I think I'm heading the right way. :)
Once again thanks to all that have listened and commented. !@010
Very nice, love those sounds and the spaghetti western feel. Really well put together and a great listen.
You nailed that western theme perfectly. Perfect guitar tone and melody. Orchestrated very nicely, it adds to the movie theme idea. Great listen????
Oooo yeah.... love this.

;D I was thinking that too!
And cool to hear that someone else is learning Studio One.
I've been concentrating on the mastering side for a few months after doing one multi-track recording. But then yesterday I discovered, with what I've learnt, how quickly I can do a single mic songwriting demo with vox/acoustic now... I used to do that with a Boss MicroBR (and loved it for that) and then later I use a smartphone to capture those... but I was never that keen on the quality for posting them. They were just for me for memory.
But with Studio One - WOW! I had a take done, EQ'd, "mixed" and then mastered in less that an hour.
I've not managed to conquer the virtual amp thing, though, it doesn't grab me yet.
I did a couple of demo things early on using Ampire, which seems pretty good, but it added a layer of IT fiddling I didn't want to cope with at the time, and I've got loads of outboard stuff I've always used for guitars.
HOWEVER... I love the sound you're getting for that guitar and bass, though... I might try again now!
Yeah, I've been playing it on repeat while typing - this is fabulous. Like Rob says, you nailed that western theme vibe.
The more I listen the more I think "Hank" (is it a red strat? I got one of those ;D).
And the mix is so wide and open - love those acoustics on the edges. And that last chord - yess - it's VERY 60s :)

Cheers. The guitar is a 1980's Washburn HB35 in single coil setting. It's the only guitar I own, but I can get most sounds I want from it. I wouldn't be without it. I'm really a bass player, who attempts to get by on guitar, so I never do anything too complicated ... Mainly 'cause I can't! :D
The acoustics are virtual instruments from iPad Garageband, along with all the drums, strings & synths. I record them as a GarageBand project, then export each track, one at a time & import them into Studio One.
Thanks again for the listen & comment. Nice to hear from a fellow Studio One user too. :)
