Here's my version of Sign of the Times from Bryan Ferry's 1978 solo album The Bride Stripped Bare.
Boss BR800
Blackstar Dept 10 Dual Drive
Reverend Jetstream RB
Fender Jaguar
Squier P Bass
Handclaps from Bandlab
Great energy and performance Pete, has a good live feel.
Great minds think alike - I recorded guitar tracks for a version myself earlier on this evening!

:)
Thanks Nick !
And looking forward to hearing your version !
Hell I love your guitar playing and sound on this...that lead too is especially good and the rhythm tracks are so good.....
killer work Mr. Collins!!!!
vocals are good too... this song rocks a cubit butt ton (a slang for a whole lot)
Love the energy on this song and your playing is tight jamming with morning coffee
Tim

Same here coffee and all.
This Roxy fest has made a fan of me. Nice work Pete
listening again I really love the way the two rhythm guitars play off each other in the left and right track...that is a wonderful and clever use of the guitars.... just a great track Pete

Aww, thanks for your comments Stephen ! For quite a few years the core members of the band I played in were myself and 2 brothers, one played guitar and the other bass. Neil, the other guitarist, and myself always made a conscious effort on the rhythm sections of song to play something different from each other. It's something I've carried through to my recordings...if I'm doing more than one rhythm track, once I've done the first rhythm track, I'll try and play the second track differently. Then I pan them to right and left so they stand out from each other.
That sounds great - a wall of guitars, lovely-jubbly.
Excellent cover.

Yeah great energy indeed Pete. So full of life and those guitars sound superb, played with bags of passion. Very good vocal too.

Nice job, I don't remember this one so it's a great new song to me. Excellent guitar.

This is one of those RM music I didn't listen for ages!
Really liked your cover, the guitar is spot on. I never realized the guitar solo is basically one note for a bunch of measures! I wouldn't call Manzanera a virtuoso, but it is very interesting how he lays the guitars in RM songs.
Thank you!
I had missed this one
I didn't know this song, the voice immediately made me think of Brian Ferry
the guitar playing is excellent also
a great cover, bravo Pete
Great job Pete, love the guitar work, in fact there's nothing about this I don't like.

< mental note: steal the idea of the 2 guitars panned right and left in a next song >
btw the tone of the 2 guitars sounds (at least to me) relatively similar. Did you use the same gear/ settings/ EQ, etc?

From what I remember, the left and right guitars went through pretty much the same pre-amp and settings, the main difference being one guitar has single coil pickups and the other has mini-humbuckers.
I listened again to your version Pete, after hearing Nick's version, I like to listen to different versions it's always very interesting
...big work with the guitars, there is some distortion in the voice track, is it a saturation effect ?

I think I need a better microphone !
