mimic fest....In the style of THE CARS:
this was fun but man I did alot of work on this...I had all the guitar tracks recorded and drums and the plug got pulled on the BR and wham... all gone...but I liked it so much I did it all again...ha!!! 3 guitar tracks, using my Les Paul and the BR patches once again, as I am too lazy to dig in the bag and get out my ME 25...I had no idea what it would be about until the rhythm, bass, and drums were done and then I knew it had to be sexual...romantic...it just felt that way... and I don't really do that stuff up til now.
It was the Mrs. and my 20th the other day and this is really about her...but I can promise you, she'll probably never hear it...maybe if I am coherent just before I kick off or something...lol...
but as a man, the dog man this is kind of what she does for me...
Great song with that early Cars vibe. I really liked the use of panning on this track with vocals moving from side to side and guitars coming at you from every direction. The guitar tone is great too - I'm also usually too lazy to bother linking up my multi-effects and rely on the BR patches. Saying that, most of the BR patches aren't bad at all.
Cool stuff with that trademark StephenM repetitive lyrical hook + riff trick! And that burning solo near the end. The almost ghostly (theremin) sounding synth melodies at the back are very much CARS like as is the groove.
Nice cars style stephen.
Its defo an earlier cars sound like moving in stereo.
Cool stuff.
Well done.
Oh yeah I can hear The Cars in this....nice! The repeating synth sound nails down The Cars sound and style. Well done Stephen!
What a cracker Stephen, well done pal.
You've got Ric ocasek style going here. Nice job. This has a groovy beat and nice hook to it. Loved it
Well as an uptight English chap I found the lyrics to be a bit on the "fruity" side, it's a good thing you are married..... :o :D
You definitely hit the Cars nail on the head, that combination of rhythm guitars and keys works really well and you have some excellent sounds in there. And a nice Ric-style vocal over the top really makes it. I really liked the solo part as well, great guitar work and I love the way the bass comes through as well. There's a lot going on but it all works really well, nice fest entry!
What a great track Stephen. You've nailed that cars sound. You can see you've done a lot of work on this. ( sorry to hear you lost all the tracks, I did that too recently..really annoying).
I love the music in this, especially the guitars and your lyrics are great. Great vocals too.
It's a perfect pop song.
she's a fortunate woman , and this is the new 'girl from ipanema', in Car's cool stye, of course LOL . Great great song !
Marvelous stuff, Stephen. I must admit I'm fairly ignorant about The Cars but I like this.
I might need to take a cold shower though as I'm a repressed Englishman as well! :)
Great song in the Cars style loving the driving guitar work
Bravo
Tim
Love it Stephen. I love the crazy vocal overdubs you do, really adds a lot fun to the track. Great tones and some clean, family friendly lyrics to go on top :D
You hit the goal very nicely! This takes me back to the eighties. Well done, Steffen!
