Here's a quick little ditty i recorded. I recommend reading the lyrics before listening to the demo. There's some heavy Finglish accent going, and even i'm hearing stuff that isn't there. I'd almost like to spell those out ;) The only reason i'm even trying to sing the tune(s) is to get the idea(s) down.
Lyrics:
I'm sitting on my bathroom floor
My wife is banging on the door
Wake up you idiot, your day dreams are over
My dogs are looking up the moon
They're hoping to get home soon
I'm standing in the shadows
Always dreaming
I can't sing i can't hold the tune
The guitar sounds like its way out of tune
Help me i'm in trouble
Get these songs out of me
I tried to write a country song
I did some funk and rock'n'roll
I even went to eighties
Now i'm living in Woodstock
My light is burning brighter every day i get older
My singings better (NO) i'm being bolder
Somebody please help me
Sing these songs for me!
Most of the tracks are first takes. I recorded the vocals in the car and the same applies to the guitar tracks (one of those tracks is clipping as i was still learning ;)). Later i added the drum track (with the help of Jamstix and Ugritone drum library). The organ track is Yamaha Reface and that's a second take. There are bum notes and timing issues in every track, but this is just to get something done!
First off...this music reminds of a happy sound like Bruce Springsteen maybe or a mid to late 60's vibe...and that beat, guitar, bass along with that infectious keyboard does that...
I like the accent...I love hearing accents...it's part of the reason I love Abba, the Scorpions etc...
interesting enough lyrics for me... like the drums alot too...
cool stuff.!!!
Well, it's hardly the Finnish doom metal I was hoping for ;) but it's a really infectious song. I think your vocals work well, the Finglish sounds great. There's some nice chord progressions in there and the drums sound great. You could definitely do more with this but as a first effort on the BR-80 I think it's worked really well. Hopefully this will help you get more done.
I always used to record vocals in the car when I used the MicroBR. I needed to sing quite loud and sitting in the car in the garage was the only place that worked for me!
Thanks for the comments! The Finnish doom metal was mentioned twice so i guess i'll have to accept the challenge and try it out at some point :)
As for this one... I don't think this little ditty is worth polishing further. It was just a test on how to work with Micro BR. The lyrics were 100% real life based, but not something that has value on repeat listening imho.
The next song that i'm working on will be country(ish). It's an older one that i never managed to finish and now (even with the new ideas) it's trying to push its head to the surface again...
excellent track love the lyrics and the approach
This is great! Love that keyboard part - like French 60's pop. Adds a nice retro twist to a very catchy and well-mixed song. Your vocals are excellent too.
Hook has his whole recording studio in his car. Sometimes it's the only way to get space / peace.
I love the way you recorded the guitar in the car!
Sounds great and a bundle of fun.
I'm looking forward to the country song.
beautiful and funny ;-) great listen !
Yeh that's a cool performance.
I'm getting that clipping you spoke about.
The drums are cool,well done.
Outstanding song.....I love everthing about this song.....its a great recording and the song is so fun to listen to ..... great demo
