Sent this to Geir and the brilliant viking that he is outdid himself. He sent me 5 vocvals & 2 baglama tracks. I did uke/vocal, bass, & minty/key drums. Also added a cuban tres solo. Thank you Geir for all the time, energy & talent you put into this.
Words Of Love
written by Buddy Holly
performed by Geir & Hook
Fabtastic!
Always have loved this song, being a big Buddy Holly fan. Your version has almost has a tropical, and even Hawaiian flavor to it, with the baglama, tres, and uke. Otherworldly, even!
Well done, gentlemen.
I can see the island reference not a bad thing I think this take s really cool well done gentlemen
Tim
Love the Hawaiian twist on this Buddy / Beatles beauty. It really works. As does combining mega Songcrafter talents. Great to see you both collaborating my friends, and this is quite outstanding. Rum. I need rum now.
Well done gentlemen. A really cool interpretation of this classic.
Brilliant, possibly my absolute favourite of the Hook For Sale saga. Your two voices mesh so well together and musically it's so bouncy and sunny. Lovely tropical flair to this oldie.
just under the wire with the ending of a big fest....so many Beatles covers...wasn't this fun?
really love how big you make the UKE sound...
of course stellar vocals as well
one day Hook it would be fun to get to meet you...I don't know if I ever will but...and I would love to watch you perform live because I bet you are great at that..
Outstanding guys.
The Buddy Holly genre sits out clear.
You dudes nailed it.
Nice one.
I love this song and this is great, very cool 8)
Wow, another amazing Beatles cover from the mind of Hook! The feel and instrumentation is really clever and this is a lovely listen. Really enjoyed this, two great Songcrafters collaborating in a really inventive way. Bravo!
Mind you, I thought baglama was a Greek pastry.........
sound great...it's true the Hawaiian atmosphere adds a little original touch to this song of the great Buddy Holly
That's a deep cut. I didn't know The Beatles covered this song!
A great and spacious version. So much going on, but somehow not too dense with sound. How'd you do that?
For a long time this song has fascinated me. (I'll take this excuse to remind you that I covered it myself (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=25353).)
And as long as we're getting all exotic with the baglama and the Cuban tres here's an amazing version by a Kenyan band that you are now required to hear:
BTW: Hook, have you posted any other recordings of your tres? I'd love you to point me to them. When I visited Cuba (2000-ish) I almost bought one, but didn't want to get busted for it by US Customs – and lose it – which is exactly what happened with the other contraband I tried to bring back.
