Nearly ended up on the editors floor,
Was watching the news, which I usually want to hit the TV with my beer can,
Well anyway a year to the day to the first lockdown,
Got the BR out and this is what transpired.
Bit of old codswollop,
Thanks for listening John
This is great, John. Spiky, immediate, and with a real hook about it. Glad you didn't trash it - it has so much genuine feeling and depth to the lyric and vocal delivery.
I think it's bloody brilliant. Onto listen number 2 and I'm totally feeling it.
Straight to the point and very effective. Love the chord sequences and the spiky, angular guitar work. The vocal is very in your face and I like the way you doubled it. Good thing you saved this one, I enjoyed it!
And I just saw that Tim also said spiky while I was typing this reply. It's definitely got a great edge to it.
Great vocals and song John! I love the doubled up vocals...they're very affective at driving the point home. Even though I'm sitting on another continent the sentiment of your words ring so true in my ears. I'm not familiar with the phrase "Bit of old codswollop" but I like the sound of it, lol! Well done here.

No I can't believe it's been a year either, what a nightmare it's been. The song is great, love the guitar tone and I love the way you've delivered the vocals too. It really is catchy and words resonate to everyone at the moment. Darren.
I like that edgy feel in this song and the vocal delivery clearly presents the anger and pissed off state of mind with all the lockdown bollocks.
Love that rhythm guitar, great melody played with feeling. Great vocals too John, again bags of attitude. A wee cracker.
Mike
I always love SE stuff and this is no exception.... your guitar sound coupled with your voice is very original... and I know I never heard you sing years ago...before the thing (you mentioned something happened) but I think your voice now is incredible... I really related to the words here too.
This is great. I'm glad it made it past the cutting room. I need this song.
I love the surprise is in your voice declaring the time we've been locked in this nightmare.
I think we would all agree we did not think we would be a year down the line.
The guitar groove almost putting out a rolling stones vibe.
Nice one John.
Well I am glad this one did not go in the bin I really like it from the vocal setup to the stabbing guitar
Tim
Good one SE you hit the nerve for sure
The backer is very captivating, my toe is tapping on the floor! I need this song, too. Excellent job, John!
Fabulous! Yes, do not throw your music away, someone will always enjoy it. I definitely did and a new vocabulary word to boot, can't wait to use codswollop the first chance I get - it's awesome!
Hope you're doing well!
Really powerful song, lyrics and emotion in the voice and punchy guitar. Love the way you emote the phrase "after a year?" Also loving the strong "British accent".
Yes, as mentioned, we all need this song! Great work!
I've never heard this style from you John. It's great, you need to do more.
I agree with Kenny's Stones comparison, and I dig the rawness.
I also dig the anger and frustration.
When this is over there's gonna be some huge mask burning parties!
Gaun yersel china!
WOW! I hear a punk/Clash vibe in the delivery. This is a truly great song, I really had to stop and listen - it really grabs you !!!
Loved this performance. Reminds of slam poetry or street poetry I don't know what they call it.
The music is cutting, in support of the hard hitting lyrics and vocal delivery.
Very Cool
This truly great - and so unique sounding and themed. The subject matter is spot on - frustrations mixed with amazement - yup we're still here.
Great tune.
Mike
