I'm guessing there's going to be a few versions of this. And rightly so. It will be interesting to see / hear how it gets interpreted.
If it was just one Bee Gees song that I was allowed to cover, it would be this one. Sublime, timeless songwriting. Damn those boys were good.
Luckily I'm allowed to do others too ;D
This version comes more from the Gram Parsons / Flying Burrito Brothers take on it. I can't do proper country, but that's where I was leaning. And I had to tune the guitar down half a step to be able to sing it.
Tanglewood acoustic, Telecaster (with some slide), Jazz bass and GB drums all recorded and mixed on the MBR.
awesome job Tim....you caught the emotion and deep feeling ....great singing..I like the countrified feel of this....the great Canadian band Blue Rodeo did up a contrified version of this song some years age which is very good....

Lovely :)
fabulous brother, a great version of a truly great song.
Great cover could not even come close to pulling this song off but your add as a country style really worked well
Well done
Tim
An excellent version Tim!
Farrell
Great version. I was thinking of doing this song as well. Love the country twang you added to it, me being more originally accustomed to the Blue Rodeo version, a slight country styling of this song really feels right to me. Awesome vocals as well
What a start to the Bee Gees Fest ! I'm convinced you can take any song and make it your own. Great vocals and some nice guitar going on.
Pete
Astounding cover, Tim - I can definitely hear the Burritos influence in there, but it's all you. Love those tremoloed guitars and the direct vocal style.
The bar has been set high... very high.
Lovely cover Tim, love the guitars, especially the slidey one. Very cool indeed. And the vocals, well you did a great job, you got those high notes and it's really well performed. An excellent recording as well, overall a totally brilliant cover.
I like this version alot. It's got more soul. You sang it really well and i loved the touch or Trem on the guitar. Nice cover for the Festival Tim. The country flavored approach works like a charm. Good'n !
Brilliant. You really nailed the vocal. When I found out the Bee Gees had won the fest I thought... how the hell am I gonna manage to do a Bee Gees cover. In fact I am still thinking that. But wow... so beautifully done, guitars sound great, very pure and yeah, brilliantly done. It's true though, the Bee Gees were a class above in songwriting.

heard this the other day....thought I commented but nope...because i was listening while working around the yard.... listening to the birds... but not the yardbirds or the byrds.... sorry....
anyway....Tim... this is a great song and you have done a great cover.... guitar work is really nice here.... no need to comment on the vocals...
I missed this somehow.
What an excellent track.
I feel this version and the way its recorded to be so relaxing.
The guitar work as well is superb.
That telecaster dances in and around this track.
Nice one.
This is sooo good! Love your vocals on this Tim. Killer version!!
I honestly put this cover right up against the original, but clearly distinct, in terms of what I enjoy hearing. You have given it the "Tim Green" style sound and high quality production and made it your own, and I love it. Definitely a lot of feeling and emotion here. And the production with the guitars is great, and to me it has a "country rock" tinge for sure that I love.
Missed this the first time around. Killer version. John and I tried this at last Saturday's gig, but I fear it was a lot more rough around the edges than this gem.
