I used to work with a bloke who used to say "Watch out - the men in trousers are here!" if our depot was visited by senior management. A strange thing to say but I knew exactly what he meant. And so does Trevor who has produced magical lyrics and superb vocal delivery.
This one took a little while to do - for various reasons - but we love it.
Paul
A lot of fun putting this one together! Men in trousers. What a great expression for the suits that parade around the workplaces watching what everyone is doing.
Trevor is indeed a special talent...so theatrical...so expressive.... I love the guitar work on here especially Paul.... and the bass is big... and it is so dang busy... you def are busy doing this...and it is very scrubbed like the cleanliness of an operating room....
btw,... the "Men in trousers" thing we knew as "the dog and pony show" in the Navy... the Admiral would show up and right behind him... I mean like on his ass was the "Rear Admiral." lol... I figured out why they called him the rear admiral... had his nose up the Admirals rear...literally... and then behind them would be a cadre of lessers....
I've just been wowed by Trev's "Fear" and now I listen to this stunner! Double wow!! I just love the off kilter riff that drives this and the effects you have used are really clever. And when you bring the keys in to echo the riff, that really brings the dynamics here to a new level. Loving the guitar solo towards the end. There's so much to like here in the music, but then add the lyrical content and the concept, and that takes it to another level. And of course a great vocal performance from Trev.
You've handled the mixing and production beautifully Paul. Many layers and it gradually builds up but never gets too muddy or messy. A brilliant track, well done guys!
Lol i remember me listening to Ironman and thinking what can be more than this from Trevor and Paul ? And this is a new surprise, perfect and funny and disturbing and illuminating. Man in trousers, you nailed it and music and words are a perfect picture. Ambitious track, truly a great great song (I am still amazed by the lot of remarkable things paul can fit into a single song ;- )
Love it , as someone who was fair game for the men in trousers where i worked, i can relate to this composition 100% , but by god this is one hell of a song and composition , the music is stunning and beautifully recorded and performed by Chapperz , he has a very high standard is his work which is always expert in its delivery , and Reg that vocal performance is just brilliant , fits the song like a glove, Perfect stuff
Dunny
Nobody else could have done this song but Trev.
Paul's a musical genius and he has picked the right guy for the job here.Superb.
There are so many things to dig about this, but I am just flabbergasted by the production. Jesus palomino.
Blooby
Smoking song got me laughing from the start Great collab guys well done
Tim
I don't often self bump but I'm so relieved to hear that Trevor has rejoined the Men In Trousers today.
So glad to hear Reggie's on the mend.
A cadre of lessers - that's your next song title there then.
You two are perfect for each other - this is perfectly genius.

I've written it in my little book of song titles, Hilary.
Still one of my faves of yours and Trevs, definitely worthy of more listens! And glad to hear Trev has his trousers back on..... ;D
Wow, this is ginormous! Love the arrangement, Paul - so much tension, and in a very orchestral and complex style. And Reg's lyrics and vocals add the appropriate oomph.
Well done, gents.
I missed this first time around, which is a real shame. It's fucking monstrous! In a towering, brilliant way. Both of you have absolutely excelled yourselves with what you've brought to the party. All kinds of shades of Devo, Thomas Dolby and Yes. Prog in Pop trousers! Just wow, wow, wow! The production and instrumentation is just stunning.
fantastic song love the topic , i think we have all been there before , great mix and love those drums . cheers tony cee
I almost missed this, thanks for the bump!
The backer is really fine with its twists and turns. Proggy and experimental. Trevor is the right person to sing this- brilliant take!!
I've listened to this one several times on the chappers playlist (I was checking out the kick and bass relationships for a comment on Unresolved Resolution ...)
Anyway, the song REALLY got to me (in a good way) after several listens.
Initially, concentrating on listening to bottom end closely, I was thinking "there goes crazy Reg ... cool"
By the end of the commenting, it was still playing, and...
WOW, what a track, yessss...
Cracking song..has an air of tension which I often used to feel before I left my job. Every month a percentage of my work would be checked, then a percentage of the checker's work would be checked, and so on seemingly ad infinitum !
