Unexpected Psychedelic Fest
Wasn't sure how to go about a Psychedelic cover but just went and got on with it anyway making it up as I went along. I think I just started off with a repeating very simple E chord riff as a base for the whole thing and then just threw other chords at it over the top to see what happened. I tried to not get too bogged down with detail and tried to not give a shit as opposed to meticulously planning it out. A bit of cut and paste of sections again of the best takes.
Anyway... apologies in advance to any Tears For Fears fans!
I loved it Mike 8) 8) 8) 8)
Sacrilege!!!
And fantastic!
Nice work Mike..great listen ! Wouldn't have recognised the original song if I'd not seen the name on your post but I suppose that's the idea of this fest. This is going to be an interesting fest

Dark and dystopian - wonderful.

Jeez, sounds like you had a lot of fun with this one, Mike. I can barely recognise the song after your psycho treatment. What a great cover and a worthy entry for the fest.
Excellent Mike!, beautiful power chord guitars sheet
that is crazy good...like wow....a real stunner... and I had no idea what I could possibly do for this fest...but this at least gives me a bit of hope...good stuff right there...this reminds me just a bit of The Ataris when they did a remake of "The Boys of Summer"
REALLY COOL. I appreciate hearing the genesis of the idea as it is how I have done all my best guitar loops.
One, or two or three chords, and then something cool on top.
The basic guitar backbone of this reminds me a bit of the guitar part from "Born to Be Wild".
Taking out the iconic synth riff from a Tears for Fears song is actually kind of genius.
My all time favorite Tears for Fears cover is the "Mad World" cover, by Gary Jules. He kind of stole the song when he covered it.
Anyways, I think you found a really cool new thing here, and I think it's a GREAT cover.
I think this is a kind of post-punk psychedelic freak out - the guitars and wild guitar solo definitely take it right in that direction. And a post-punk psychedelic freak out is right at the top of the list of things I really like, so I absolutely loved this one! A very innovative version of the original. Really nice work Mike, a great listen all round.
Excellent version, Mike! So different and cool with captivating riffs!
This is knock out , just a flavour of the song ,but everything else is just brilliant , totally different aspect completely , really good how you managed to keep that tone and feel all the way through the song , loved it !!
Dunny
That's not right. I mean, you shouldn't do that. :o But I enjoyed it, nonetheless. I like your brand new take on the 80's classic.
Im loving this fest.
I just love the totaly different takes on all the songs.
This is fab, totally different road I thought it was going to go.
Nice one.
Brilliant take on a great song. "Deconstructed" might be a good description? Powerful stuff!
Great and unusual take. Certainly accomplishes the goal. Nice work!
I love this. My head was nodding along. Just needs a theremin.
Great job
:)
Totally badass brother. I hear a lot of Jefferson Airplane (and some J Starship) in this. well done.
Rock on!
I haven't bumped anything in a while..quite a while actually... I was binging to Mike's list today in the car and on the treadmill and man alive this thing floored me yet again...been about a year...
killer stuff man...as much as I dug the original this is way friggin better...I like what Flash said....sacrilege but fantastic.
Glad this got the bump
Nice Mike. That's the way to do a cove. Reimagined. Loved it
