2 guitar tracks, lead and rhythm... the rest is the usual Garageband stuff.
I wanted to do something a bit more upbeat / uplifting as my last last few offerings have been a bit hard going!!
Struggling a bit with the mix, due to my crap equipment... apologies if some frequencies are a bit out
Very good, Mike. Upbeat indeed. Cool chord changes. I could see lyrics with this. Might be a nice song.
Oh man - this is crying out for a vocal!!!!
Sweet as F***
Amazing playing! I just noticed that this is a toe tapper!
ROCKING!
Mighty cool sounding guitars.
It's like it takes loads of my favourites from the history of guitar pop/rock, mixes them all together and goes "here you are then"...
I could start going "i can hear x, and y, oh! and z... oh and it's a bit like a, and b too, and..."
But I won't, it's its own thing and it's captured this fabulous vibe.
Nice work Mike, loving the guitar sounds an chord changes. Excellent melodic lead work as well. Really enjoyed having this looping as I did various admin stuff.
As everyone else said, it really is crying out for some vox as well.....
Thanks for listening chaps... not sure why I started doing this as an instrumental, it just kind of happened. I guess their could be life in a version of this with vocals. Would be very interesting to hear. If anyone fancies a go DM me and I will send a version without all that lead guitar on it.
That's a great track Mike what an excellent listen, haven't been around for a while.
Would love to put a little vocal on it if that's OK. A track with no lead, if you could add some lead later, that would be great, well done loving your track!!
Cor, this is tasty! Sounds like an unknown collaboration between Oasis and Blur. I really like it. Totally works as an instrumental, but vocals would definitely add an extra layer. Would normally jump right on it but am in the midst of all kinds of trouble and upheaval, so will have to bow out this time. Sounds great though.
bloody cracking, i might try a vocal if i get time, busy work schedule right now. not sure if a vocal can be fitted around the lead guitars but will give it a bash asap.
Thank you for giving it a listen guys... John and Jim, that would be so cool to hear if you were able to do anything. I think I will forward you guys on a version with no lead guitar after work this evening as it'll make things easier and then we could add back bits of lead at the end if it worked or it needed it.
Cheers
Mike
Sounds cracking Mike you've done a wonderful job on it
what kind of problems are you having with equipment?

Sorry Stephen, I meant to reply to you earlier. So basically I don't really have any problems with equipment as such, it's just my equipment is very basic I think. The main thing I was thinking of was the speakers I have to mix with.
I don't actually have any studio monitors... been meaning to get some... but money has been tightish for a few years for one reason or another so never got round to getting any. I have been listening/mixing on a mixture of headphones and old hi-fi speakers. My finished songs sound pretty different through both, so I basically try to compensate everything to sound somewhere in the middle of both of these.
So for example the bass might be quite loud on the headphones but barely audible on the hifi after a mix, so I adjust volume to sound somewhere in between. And do the same for anything else I am not sure about... normally the vocal needs to be adjusted too with the same process.
Apart from that my gear consists of a choice of 2 guitars which I record straight line in to an iMac and I record with GarageBand. Very basic but it's so easy to use and the features are actually decent enough to tweak and mess around with.
Thanks for asking Stephen

Mike, mixing is the most time consuming part for me...lol...actually it all can be...but my favorite mixes aren't always my favorite songs that I have been involved with...after 10 hours of work or whatever it tends to make you satisfied...or at least if I was into the music enough to spend that much time I guess I feel like I have so much invested that I have to be good with it...lately my mixes have been much simpler....but I am trying to spend more time on the tracks to get to a little higher standard....I also mix mostly through headphones which is why I end up mixing a bunch of times then running out to the car with it, or placing on the phone...I hate listening to music on a phone...it is so pathetic and yet that is what alot of people do so I want it to sound decent like that...I have some tri amped PA stuff in my studio because I practice there also with friends sometimes...my "studio" is a fairly large family room that I finally usurped control of...although it benefits the whole family as everyone (me, wife, and two teens) to varying degrees all play music...One day I will post a few photos if I can figure out how to....post photos.... anyway I love your guitars and your music overall...really great...thanks...you have a fan in NC!
