Title: You Can't Come In
Post by: The Gobi Desert Canoe Club on June 05, 2020, 09:03:56 AM
Hi all, hope you are all well, here's a bit of a bar room brawler hope you enjoy.

Epiphone Les Paul, Fender Precision, Fender Electro Acoustic, Drums BR900 CD

Well I staggered home about a quarter past three
And there she was she was waiting for me
She said you can't come in
Oh no you can't come in
Go back to where you came from
But honey you can't come in

Well just at that moment it started to rain
I started knocking on that big old door again
She said you can't come in
Oh no you can't come in
Go back to where you came from
But honey you can't come in

Well five minutes later I was soaking to the skin
I said now baby you gotta let me in
She said I luv yer but you ain't no good
Why can't you love me like a good man, like a good man should

 Instrumental

I loooked at my watch it was a quarter past five
And I was feeling more dead than alive
She said you can't come in
Oh no you can't come in
Go back to where you came from
But honey you can't come in
Go back to where you came from
But honey you aIn't coming in
Go back to where you came from
But honey you can't come in

Oh yeah.

Love how it rolls along. Those vocals on the "you can't come in" hook - almost gets the same vibe as a horn section.
And cool guitars.

Yep its an all round winner for me.

Nice punchy blues with a cool swagger. The Les Paul sounds great - just the right amount of dirt. Some lovely lead lines too. Excellent performance and a catchy chorus - what's not to like?

I really like this one Willie. A great laid-back shuffle groove going on there with some really nice unexpected chord changes in the blues. Guitars sound fab and I love the wide, lush production. The vocals are great, and the lyrics are perfect for the song. The backing "ohh wap wap" bits are great when they come in.

Very nicely done, fantastic production and superbly played and performed.

Hey Willie I'm diggin' this blues shuffle with a hint of country rock flavor. That Epi LP has some great tone and you nailed that solo. Andy R said you're getting a horn vibe with those backing vocals and I agree whole heartedly....tight! Cool vocals, storyline, and songwriting!

Haha... fabulous. This is great. This would be so good live. It has that rock with a slight country twang. But best of all are those lyrics and that brilliant story. They took me back to a specific night about 15 years ago where I made it home but couldn't get the key in the door, whereupon I lay down and went to sleep at the front door... I was let in but it's not a pretty story!!!

Great post all the way around. Always love your lead tones, not to mention the tasty note choice, especially when you play through that turnaround.
