Title: Drifting Tide
Post by: Farrell Jackson on December 16, 2019, 09:07:38 AM
This is a collaboration with Ron Bowes called Drifting Tide. Ron did all the music and I did the lyric and vocals.
Drifting Tide
(V1) Hey everybody, do you think there's another way?
There's got to be another way, yeah for another day
All by yourself and standing tall
You can't see over that wall
There's something good on the other side
In your sea of dreams, it's on the drifting tide
(Chr) You need a place to call home
No matter how long or rough the road
There's got to be a place to call home
(V2) Did you see it for a fleeting moment?
It was there but you still don't own it
(Chorus and solo)
(V3) Don't give up on finding your way
Stay focused and try not to stray
The good life's there at the end of the path
The good life's there, it's within your grasp
(Chr) You need be a place to call home
No matter how long or rough the road
There's got to be a place to call home
(Repeat V1)

This is excellent!

Production is incredible, as is the recording and playing. The vocals are particularly good, have you added some delay to the lead vox?

It's like a mad mashup of Beales, ZZ Top and the Darkness.

A really great track.

Thanks Flash Harry! On the lead vocal track I did a physical double take (sang it twice). It seems to give it a natural chorus/delay effect when you do that. I also added some lively room reverb and panned each vocal track slightly left and right. That's it. Thanks for asking and commenting!

Fine songwriting and performance! That double voice recording was very creative -  sounds good!

Got some ZZ Top vibe at places, too. A toe tapper tune!

Loads of attitude in this Farrell... that is great to hear. Almost a little punky to my ears. An urgency and coolness to this track. The solo is nice and whacky too. Love it.

Superb stuff. The backing music is great, very well played and recorded. The vox are superb Farrell, you did a great job on the double tracking. It's an effective technique but you need to be able to get close enough to the first performance to make it work and you mailed it! Another great collab from you, keep 'em coming!

Rocking out the office this morning The double track method is great it can also be created on guitars and vocals by doubling the track and putting a slight delay on the copied track Called the HAAS effect. Used to have a plug in to do this but it can be done with just a delay. Enough on the tech stuff great track and a great way to start the morning with my coffee
