Title: Southern Fried Man ($8Rum and The Cuzn's)
Post by: Farrell Jackson on March 20, 2019, 09:04:16 AM
Lorne and I wanted to do a fun song so we came up with Southern Fried Man - a Southern Bluegrass Rocker. Credits: Lorne Reid (top left pic-Canada) songwriter, bass, drums and rhythm guitar. Farrell Jackson (top right pic-California) songwriter, lyric, and all vocals. Joseph Rodriguez (bot. right pic-Puerto Rico) lead guitar solo. Ron Bowes (bot. left pic-UK) harmonica and video

Southern Fried Man  (Harmonica intro)
(V1) I've been to the far North... even been to other shores
I've tasted moose and had some deer... tried fancy foods everywhere
(Chr) Fry me up chicken in a pan, Cause I'm a Southern Fried Man. (yes, I am)

(V2) Ate some things I couldn't pronounce... nuttin' like that way down South
Give me biscuits and chitlin gravy, give me bacon crispy and wavy
It's not hard for me explain, good home cookin' keeps me sane
(Chr) Fry me up chicken in a pan, I'm a Southern Fried Man.
Oh yes, I am... A satisfied...Southern fried Man

(V2) I do like burgers and fries, just don't want no big surprise
Some collard greens and tasty squash, fried okra in mustard sauce
If its raw fish throw it out, comfort food is what it's all about
Catch me a trout from a fresh stream, don't put no Shushi in front of me
(Chr) Fry me up chicken in a pan, Cause I'm a Southern Fried Man. (yes, I am)
 (Guitar Solo)
(V3) It's just wrong when eggs look funny, clear as water and just as runny
If they come with hollerdaise sauce, it's out the door in one good toss
Pecan pancakes taste so good, down in a holler or out in the woods
When the dinner bell is ringin', my belly growls and starts a singin'
(Chr) Fry me up chicken in a pan, Cause I'm a Southern Fried Man.
Oh yes I am... A satisfied... Southern fried Man
A satisfied... bonafide, Southern fried Man (yes, I am)
A satisfied... bonafide, Southern fried Man (yes, I am)

Top class work by all of you! Killer guitar riffs and harmonica sounds so good, too. This would deserve time on air - no doubt!

Enjoyable listening and watching, although it's not very healthy food ;D

More, please!

Thanks Kenneth and Kari for listening and commenting! Don't worry, I don't eat this unhealthy, lol! At least not since I was a young man. Now it's baked, skinless chicken and Brussel Sprouts  :)

As someone relegated to the southern U.S., I am mildly offended, but that's just because this his so close to home, damn you.

Love that lead break. I have to break my delay/reverb habit at times.

Great tune.

LOL at Blooby....thank you!  I hope you're not too offended.....although I was born and raised in Calif. my folks are both from the south and that is the accent and comfort food I grew up with so I didn't have to dig too deep for those lyric or the accent, lol.

Bump!

I was at Dennys today, this song so fits!
No sin in indulgence in a actual grease fest meal occasionally, in fact it's good for the soul!
You sound Canadian Farrell! Lol great accent! I know southern and Canada are worlds apart, but you would be surprised!

Thanks for bump Kenneth ! I love Denny's but only eat there occasionally...grease is good in moderation, lol. I've been to both coasts in Canada and you're right, I heard many different accents. I actually live on the west coast of N. California. Cheers!

Loving this one. I've sampled some of that rather unhealthy comfort food and enjoyed it too much! Great feel here, some excellent playing and a really enjoyable set of lyrics. Great vox as always, and it's all put together really well.
