Hi Folks.
I bought a Gibson SG the other day as a first step towards launching my comeback tour. (I'll post a pic once I name it).
I dusted off (figuratively speaking) my BR80, and to my dismay, the track wheel is malfunctioning (it registers as dialing counterclockwise no matter which direction I turn it).
Should I simply buy a new one?
Or... what do we use for *compact, battery-operated* multitrack recording now that it's 2019?
Has anything dethroned the BR80?
Thanks everyone.

P.S. I have missed this place!
Hi! I recall seeing a YouTube video about problems with the wheel contacts. The guy walks you through taking the unit apart. I don't think it's too difficult to repair, from what I remember.
I too kinda remember that video. There really isnt anything as good as or as inclusive( recorder w/full array of effects) as the br80. I just went ahead and bought a 2nd one when my 1st one started to do the same thing. That wheel is just poor design.
If you dont need or care about effects the Tascam dp008ex is excellent. It does have great reverb and some good mastering effects. Not as small but completely portable and the mics might be a little better...i dont know. Nice machine, I still have one but I want all the BR80 has to offer .
Good luck brother.
Rock on!
Here's a good video that shows how to disassemble the BR-80 and clean the scroll wheel.
