Title: BR 800 compression
Post by: bazz-bass on January 28, 2018, 12:10:56 PM
Hi Guys..........in the throes of moving from a much used BR1200 to an 800 and trying to work out how to utilise various features.

On the 1200/1600 compression is a dedicated Loop effect (stand alone so to speak). On the 800 it appears as a bank ( 8 Track compression ) as part of the overall insert FX section.

Can this 8 track  compression be used in conjunction with another insert FX patch if I switch off the Compression component of that selected effect........or is it one or t'other?.

Anybody got to grips with this please

Regards

Baz ;)

I have to admit i have used the BR800 for about 8 years and only used the the mastering effects with all the compression and stuff in the patch, with all the guitar, and other stuff with there sounds already recorded, never really got into the compression side of things , try the mastering effects and see if there is one that suits your needs

Actually, the compressor/limiter insert effect is included in all of the BR-800's effects algorithms except VOCAL MULTI; not just the 8-TRACK COMP/LIM algorithm. So you can easily combine compression with any of the insert effects.

The BR-800 also has compression in the mastering effects but it's dumbed down, so you won't find the usual compressor parameters. Instead, it just has the settings DYNAMICS, TONE, and NATURAL. The DYNAMICS and NATURAL settings adjust the compression. The TONE setting is really just EQ, but I think it will have a slight effect on the compression too.
