Title: BR 800 usb3
Post by: bazz-bass on January 17, 2018, 08:07:34 AM
I have obtained a version 1.12 BR800.so should be less than 4 years old

Unfortunately it comes without the  software CD

I cant connect to my PC which has USB3 ports and my computer says the Boss is too old to work with USB3.

Help Please.

You need to download and install the appropriate driver for whichever operating system you're using.

Most USB 3 ports are backward-compatible with USB 2 and should have no problem with the BR-800 once the drivers are correctly installed on your computer. However, if your USB 3 ports are not backward-compatible with USB 2, then you'll need to connect the BR-800 to a USB 2 port. Some computers come with a mix of USB 3 and USB 2 ports. Check your computer's documentation to see if any of the USB ports are USB 2. If so, connect the BR-800 to that port. You can usually tell if a USB connector is USB 3 or USB 2 by the colour of the plastic in it. USB 3 is usually blue, while USB 2 is usually black or white. In the following picture of a laptop's connectors, the blue connector at the left is USB 3.0, while the black connector at the right is USB 2.0.

By the way, I believe the BR-800 has USB 1.1; not USB 2. You won't likely find USB 1.1 ports on any computers nowadays, but that isn't a problem because both USB 3 and USB 2 are (usually) backward-compatible with USB 1.1.
