Title: BR 800 optimise?
Post by: bazz-bass on January 11, 2018, 09:16:43 AM
Am I right in thinking there is no process on the 800 which does the same as the optimise process on the old 1200/1600?

with unwanted overdubs etc, some of my files get extremely large values.

Save current state , reduces the song volume which will delete alot of the rubbish , this should do the trick , cant remember which menu its in , have a look in the Song folder i think its there

As pjd1 said, the "Save Current State" function will erase unnecessary data from the SD card. See page 111 of the BR-800 manual.

One difference between the BR-800 and other BRs is that the BR-800 doesn't erase the UNDO data for the last operation. So, after saving the current state, you can still undo the last operation. It's worth keeping this in mind because, if the last operation was to erase a 2-hour track, for example, then all of the data for that 2-hour track will remain on the SD card taking up a lot of space. To get rid of it, you could perform some trivial operation that doesn't take up a lot of space. For example, record a couple of seconds to a track, then erase it. Now your last operation is the 2-second track instead of the 2-hour track. When you then perform the Save Current State function, the data for the 2-hour track will be erased since it is no longer the last operation, freeing up a lot of space on the SD card.

Just an afterthought if you check the "information" in the song menu before and after the "save current state" you will be able to identify how much data you have saved on your sd card , if you have recorded a lot of takes on different tracks you will probably cut down by half the size of the song, just another snip of information for you as you perform the "save current state " if will keep all of you inputs and patches that you are using before the update. good luck
