Title: SEDONA guitar picking and vibraphone
Post by: Jean Pierre on November 15, 2017, 11:56:39 AM
I found the association UKE / Kalimba very nice in the cover of Prive the cars Drive

..and so I wanted to do  an instrumental guitar and / vibraphone (I did not have Kalimba ...)

it is a composition of STEVE WARING an American guitarist who lives in the far west of Lyon France ,  published in 1975 (many of you were not born ;D) in open tuning not very current DADF # BE .. (capo III)

there are some crunches on the guitar track ... I do not know why, if I have the courage I would do this track but not sure

additionn ah yes, the part 2 is in canon....

Fine piece. Has a bit of a medieval feel.

I like this a lot - the vibraphone goes really well with your guitar. Would love to see the vibraphone, if you have a pic?

Nice one JP,
A great number, as Nick say's it has a medieval sound to it.
Well done,

Alex.

thank you friends
Cuthbert ... it's not a real vibraphone ... just a soundfont used with SFZ vsti and played midi keyboard on my Daw

The real vibraphone is a huge instrument (I had a young friend who studied the vibraphone at the consrvatoire of lyon music (this is part of the percussion class) and in his small room of 10m2 it occupied all the space and the sound in a small room is really very powerful ... :D

Alex and Nick indeed it sounds pretty medieval ... this small instrumental piece was in a vinyl LP  of course, dedicated to the gu "American" guitar  (we called it like that in France in the 70s!)
All the disc quite inspired by what John Renbornn did was fully Open tuning quite varied DADF # AD, DADGAD, DADF # BE, DGDGCD DADGCD ...

Steve Waring was one of the pioneers animator of folk revival in France in the 75s, with Marcel Dadi and Pierre Bensusan, (for the best known abroad)
it's thanks to them that I discovered and loved the "acoustic" guitar

this piece is the most "easy" of the disc, other are very virtuoso ...
in the disc the "vibraphone" part was played by a metallophone
