Title: "Compass Rose" a Hook original

Been working on this one for a few days now. Recorded in the car on the BR80 but mixed entirely on the Tascam DP24sd.
updated with new mix
1 rhythm uke
1 u- bass
1- drums/drum jam (stereo)
1 lead vocals(stereo)
1 background vocals (stereo)
1 Lead distorted uke (stereo)
3 end vocals

Compass Rose
written & performed by Hook
This Atlas doesn't function alone
Tomorrow still comes on its own

I know this path is overgrown
we'll put our faith in a Force unknown

True North can always be seen
but these skies look rather mean

Rose of the Winds
where Direction begins
An alternate route I suppose
we can always turn to the compass rose

I like where you are going with these fuller productions. This has a cool, percolating rhythm to it.

Listened in the car and was very dissapointed, the vocals were way to high so in gonna try the mix again.

new mix now up, hope its better

I pulled the vocal back but now I'm wondering if the uke is too high?

Another slice of Hook uniqueness! Who else would play a distorted lead uke?  ;D

The solo around 2.30 sounds really psychedelic!

Very cool. There's a lot going on. A difficult mix, but this is balanced well. I always wrestle with drums levels. I know that just a a couple decibel louder with really propel a song with a lot of momentum, but I'll use it inappropriately. This is a time when I think the syncopation is cooler at the volume you have it.

I dug this one.

The fact that this was done in a car is in itself amazing,so much happening in there it's like a mix of so many musical colors .

The never ending mixing process - know it well brother. Play it on one set of speakers - sounds fine - on another, doesn't!
