Title: Vote for the May/Jun 2017 "Originals" festival

It's time to vote for our next two festivals which will run from May 1 to June 30. Voting starts now and runs for 8 days. You can change your vote any time until the closing of the poll on April 28th. To do so, click "Remove vote" to cancel your previous vote, then vote again.

This poll is for the "Originals" festival. There is a separate poll for the "Covers" festival. Please vote in both polls.

Remember, "Covers" is covers only, and "Originals" is originals preferred but covers welcome unless otherwise stated in the festival's description.

  • FalsettoFest - Embrace your falsetto voice and record it proudly. See this message (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=15502.msg322549#msg322549) for more information.

  • Past Fest Revisited - Choose any past fest and record a song specifically for it. Each submission can only be for one fest. No double-festers, triple-festers, etc. See this message (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=15502.msg322550#msg322550) for more information.

  • Not Another Election Fest - Songs about voting, or not voting or apathy, rivalry, hustings etc anything to do with elections and election overdose.

  • Fantasy Fest - Songs about fairies, goblins, lord of the rings, demons and wizards etc.

  • EveryInstrumentFest - Record a song using all of the instruments that you have (not including software instruments such as webapps or VSTis). If you have several instruments of the same type, you only have to use one of each type. For example, if you have 4 electric guitars, 3 acoustic guitars, and 2 basses, then your song only needs to have 1 electric guitar, 1 acoustic guitar and 1 bass, although you can use more if you want to. If you only have a single instrument, then just use that, or improvise on something that could be considered an "instrument", such as banging on a pot with a spoon.

  • BawdyFest - Original songs with bawdy lyrics.

  • SoulFest - Soul music. Originals preferred but covers welcome.

  • FamilyFest - Original songs about family. Could be seen in the immediate sense of being about your own family or in a wider sense, like we are all related - a brotherhood of man, etc.

Voting closed. The winner is...

Past Fest Revisited

Choose any past fest and record a song specifically for it.

Each submission can only be for one fest. No double-festers, triple-festers, etc. The reason for this is partly because it would be too much work for the admin team to keep up with all the jukebox updates. There are so many past festivals covering a broad range of themes that it wouldn't be hard to choose a song that fits a half-dozen or more past fests. The other reason for this rule is that, like all of our fests, we want you to think about the fest theme and record a song specifically for that fest. We don't want you to merely go through your past recordings or your repertoire of songs that you already know and choose something that fits a past festival. Instead, we want you to write a brand new song with a particular fest theme in mind. Or, if it's a covers fest, to learn a new song that fits the theme of the fest.

We've had a lot of great fests in the past. But often, life gets in the way and we don't find the time to record anything for a particular fest. This is your chance to do some of those songs that you really wanted to do for one or more past fests but didn't find the time for whatever reason.
