Title: One Chord Blues by Oldrottenhead
Post by: Oldrottenhead on March 04, 2017, 06:14:17 AM
OneChord (banner image missing)

was messing about with the garageband audio recorder. and did this, not sure what the chord is, i just held down the two middle strings on the fifth fret. played guitar twice once strumming and slapping the other picking individual strings, then sang. no lyrics cos it was all done ad lib.

it is what it is.

Amazing how this seems to come easy to you.

A great fit for the festival!  Nice job ceating change without changing chord.  A good lesson for any songwriter?

All the best to ya Jim.

It's an A minor 9th (Am9), James. Brilliant use of what jazz geeks would refer to as "static harmony" or "using just one chord" as us humans call it.

I'm always staggered by the way you can just pick up an instrument and a song "flows" out of you. You may not know the names of the chords, but you're one hell of a musician!

Very dynamic sound, James - it's a cool-sounding chord and your percussive style reminds me of Richie Havens in places.

I like the percussive route you've taken with this alternating between soft and hard.
Your ad-lib comes through nicely.

Nice one james, would have like the vocal up a bit.
Your lyrics are always spot on,like the percussion thing you've got going on there.

vocal was done live with ipad mini built in mic so i hadn't same control over noise/ambience/background/fridge/washing machine/traffic/kids/mrs h etc so if i turned it up in the mix, you would think you where at rottentowers, a very noisy place indeed. was hoping for some quiet today but the forecast is not looking good.

These one chorder's are blowing my friggin mind here. Jim... this is truly a great use percussive's on the strings. Really show's the ability to feel the song. The stabs and builds and dynamics and cursing are all right up my ally. Well done ole pal!!!
