You folks might not know, but I retired from the military in 2004 after 30-years service. I have seen and done a great deal of interesting things in that time. Well back in 2015 as I sat in my office, feeling nostalgic, looking at my "I Love Me Wall - military awards, plaques, certificates, photos" I suddenly found myself thinking about my middle east tours. In one particular tour I left prior to getting married to my lovely wife Madonna. 9 months later I was bound homeward and the aircrew played a bunch of music that was very "I'm coming home" sounding. It was quite a feeling knowing what we had just gone through and that I was homeward bound to my future wife.
Well, I wanted to replicate that feeling the music and the event created, so I went down into my music studio and came up with this little tune: "I'm Coming Home (A Soldier's Return)".
To me it has that coming home feeling that I felt at the time.
Hope you enjoy this tune.
Mike

You are too kind Sir - thank you so very much - means a great deal to me. Me playing keytar didn't sound too bad - had someone lined up to do real guitar but it didn't work out. :(

First of all, Mike, thank you for your service for our country.
The following is just my take on the moods I felt listening to this track. I have nothing comparable to your experience to base them on, just a feeling.
In the beginning, acoustic part of your song, I felt some relief mixed with a bit of melancholy which I imagine could have to do with leaving the company of people who you have grown to trust and care about.
In the electric guitar part the mood is decidedly happier, a little spring in the step, possibly as you got closer to your loved ones at home.
Anywho, thanks for posting, I like this track a lot. Well done.

Top class job as always, Mike!
Merry Christmas to you!
Really beautiful Mike, so well done, Played with feeling.
As Ron said, Thank you for your Service for our country,
My Daughter spent some time in the Army, spending her 18th in Iraq and her 21st in Afghanistan, a really worrying time for us, you would get some tragic news on the TV about the middle east war and panic until you knew the names of who had been lossed or injured, Times I would'nt want to go through again,
Sorry I am rambling, back to your beautiful tune, So well written and performed, it's a keeper for me,
Thanks for sharing, and a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family...
Alex
