Title: Question about 1GB SD
Post by: Lester on April 28, 2009, 04:56:09 PM
I just bought a Micro BR and am getting to know it....so far so good.  I had heard that it doesn't like SD cards over 1GB which are hard (or imposible) to find in stores around here. I found this seller on eBay and was wondering if this is a good price or if there is a better source for these 1GB cards.  Also, is it true that 2-3-4GB SD's don't work well with the Micro BR?    1GB Sandisks on eBay (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=2&campid=5336002397&toolid=10001&customid=HarmonySearch&ext=330312749217&item=330312749217)

I would not recommend going over 1GB for the BR. Not sure where you are located in this wild world, but Wally World has 1GB SDs; saw a bunch yesterday.

Either way, you could always get a good deal on them through ebay or amazon. I am pretty sure that even if you got the BR to read a 2GB+ card, it would only operate up to 1GB on it. So there would just be wasted capacity left over. Someone might want to check me on that. I have read it several places on here though.

Good luck.

It's only designed for a 1 gig. 2g sometimes work but not always, so it's best to avoid them. A higher speed class 4 or class 6 card is recommended. I have had both the Sandisk Extreme II and the Lexar Platinum (both class 4). They work fine.

I use Sandisk UltraII 1G cards, these are available from a number of sellers online. Often hard to find in stires. Buy a few and you won't need any more.

Cheers,

Nigel

So I was right about the max 1GB thing.....thanks. This card I'm looking at on eBay,  (1GB Sandisks on eBay (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=2&campid=5336002397&toolid=10001&customid=HarmonySearch&ext=330312749217&item=330312749217)) is it a basic card and not the one I should be looking for?  Can anyone find the one on eBay that's best and post the link here please?  I've looked at a lot of stores here (Canada) and haven't found any 1GB so eBay seems to be my only option.  (Dumb questions I know, but I'm kinda Techno-Challenged with this stuff....too old! LOL )

others on this site have used 2gb cards in the br.american musical supply is shipping the micro br with a 2 gb card.as has been said ,it will only recognize 1gb of  a 2gb card but should work.initialize.one guy on here said his memory card worked perfectly without being initialized.i'd do it anyway.

using anything larger than a 1 gig is a crapshoot-my br600 rejects a 2 gig sandisk-some have had luck-a roll of the dice it seems
