Actually this is my 15th on the Dp24 but my 1st Hook song to be done entirely on that machine. All the guitars are my new 2002 Fender MIM Strat through the Blackstar ID Beam. The bass is my Ibanez Acoustic also through the Blackstar (I know, it handles bass too!) and the drums are my Roland Handsonic 10. I did the vocals with my Shure Beta58, straight into the board with just some reverb added. All recorded, mixed and mastered on the Tascam DP24. It really is a great board that can do way more than I currently know but I think my "last work project" is some of the best sounding stuff I've ever recorded. I'll try and write a review soon and here are some shots of my current studio set up.

Beside Ourselves
written & performed by Hook
Good one Hook. You've got a big, full, deep sound going here. The economy of words (I like) works well with the mood you've set
I think it's hard to play a bass clean enough to be put out front like this, but you did it well.
Vox is good also. All together a well done, creative song.

This sounds so good,I'm thinking of getting the dp32 and this song is certainly selling it.
This sounds so chilled and relaxed.
Your vocal sounds great on it as well.
Nice one Hook.
Brilliant Hook, so professional,
Your voice is spot on, and some great guitar work..
well done .....

First thing - this is a great song, both conceptually and in execution. A lot of my best song ideas fall by the wayside because, although the idea is great, I can't finish writing it without straining metaphors and sounding pretentious. I think "Beside Ourselves" avoids these pitfalls.
Second thing - the session illustrates what a first rate player and singer you are, both technically adept and sensitive. I particularly like the guitar.
Other second thing (some people would call this "Third thing" but they're just showing off their advanced arithmetic skills) - the DP32 sounds great. I'm still having a largely-consensual love affair with my dual BR1600s, but maybe I could be happy cohabiting with a TASCAM in some future reality?
PS: Looking at your photographs I see you also blow. I've not heard that on any of your recordings yet - a treat in store?
Pro-sounding laid back vibes Hook. Dig it!
Congrats, Hook, it sounds very, very good!
I too got a DP-24 SD, and since the hot here is (almost) over, now I can consider to begin to use it for the fist time.
When you say that your guitars are stereo, what do you mean exactly? How did you record them? Directly in the DP24 or through a stereo output of a multieffect or something like that? Di you record MONO or stereo couple of tracks?
Alfredo
Nice to hear your voice in a big, full sounding mix like this, mate. It's gorgeous... lush production & superb guitar tones - reminds me a bit of Knopfler. A lovely song, recorded & produced superbly!
Thank you all for the very kind words!
Alfredo- I've been playing my guitars (electric & acoustic & bass!) through my Blackstar ID Core Beam amp (it's actually has 2 speakers for true stereo)http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/IDCOREBEAM?adpos=1t1&creative=105758366761&device=c&matchtype=b&network=g&gclid=CJ-mrrLtss8CFcQehgodqZkFzw (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/IDCOREBEAM?adpos=1t1&creative=105758366761&device=c&matchtype=b&network=g&gclid=CJ-mrrLtss8CFcQehgodqZkFzw)
It has an eighth inch out they say emulates the stereo speakers perfectly. I use a cord that goes eighth inch to 1/4 inch mono(R&L) & I have inputs G&H set up as a stereo bus. It can get a little over to full in the mix but you can adjust the pan on the stereo tracks also just not with as much accuracy. Your gonna love it brother!
Leighelse- I know where your coming from about being pretentious but I just stopped paying attention and just write. These lyrics came out of a very personal & emotional reaction I had to a particular situation. I started them and got as far as this and didn't think I was finished. When I came back to them I didn't really have anything left to say and I felt some completeness to it that creating the music helped to solidify.
Yes, I do play the sax... did. It was my 1st instrument and I studied and practiced quite diligently for 12 years. I've long since lost the quality in my embouchure. I have many wind instruments that you see but am not much more than a noise maker with them I use them often for work, showing, teaching & demonstrating them poorly for children. They are also a big part of both of my stage shows.
I did just recently get (and just got back from repair) an Akai EWI5000 and it's out of this world awesome. Here is a track I did with the EWI https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=25315 (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=25315).
Thanks again friends!
Rock On!
Holy sweet Moses floating down the Nile in a walnut shell!
Clean picking and sweet singing, I'm a fan of this one big time.
Wow!
