Another version of Life On Mars - an instrumental version since I can't sing! This is a bit minimalist - just one stereo track of solo piano. Shortly after Bowie died I saw a program where Rick Wakeman spoke about playing on the original recording of this song, and then played a beautiful piano version.
Clearly I'm not Rick Wakeman (as you will shortly discover, if you were in any doubt!) but I thought I'd give it my best shot. The chord structure is so great, most of it is just chords.
I played it on my Yamaha Motif XS7 and added a bit of compression, reverb and delay in Studio One.
I might do a bit more of an arrangement on it if I get time - but here is the stripped down version.

Fantastic, Paul. What a great version.
Pie-pod, defo.
:)
Yes, beautiful.....truly one of Bowies greatest songs.....sounds darn fine....classical even
oh wow! great version paul,
had this on repeat and found myself singing along to this with the headphones on, unfortunately my kids couldn't hear your wonderful playing, only my unaccompanied caterwauls. ;D ;D ;D ::) ::)
Wonderful, just loved it! One of my favorite Bowie songs as well.
The piano itself sounds really fine - very present and crisp. And it's very well-played.
Dude...so very well played. What a good listen.
Rock on!
Brilliant,absolutely excellent playing,well done,a great performance.
Beautifully played.
This is stupendously good!!! You're right about the chord progression on this song... it's absolutely gorgeous the way it flows. Your playing here is stunning!
Well played Chapperz - lovely cover. I always regret never learning the piano - I applied for piano lessons at school but my musical ability was deemed too bad to get them. I even failed an audition for the church choir which most of my friends were in !
Really good!

This is wonderful. Wish I could play keys like this! Nice choice of patch as well. A beautiful rendition.
