Title: Car Keys - odh original
Post by: ODH on October 29, 2015, 05:00:23 AM
Here' a new one that's come about this week.

I have this checklist for when I'm getting ready for work, which I'd turned into a rhyme to remember better, and then this week I turned it into a song.

Now the vocal was really only a guide vocal.  What happened was I had my phone connected up to the car hifi and I was improvising a vocal while driving home from work one evening (Tuesday).  Then when I got home I found I had the house to myself for half an hour so I captured it before I lost it.  And then I decided to go ahead and use it since I like the energy and looseness.  But it means the second verse doesn't have actual words, as such.

It's all in 7/4, and goes a bit Born Slippy at the end, inexplicably.

Enjoy

Excellent song brother, dangle a little 7/8 time in front of me and I'm like Pavlov's dogs. There is so much Robert Smith in your vocal, I love it.
Rock on!

The bass nearly blew out my speakers.

My old Dad used to say: "Wallet, watch, spectacles, testicles" as he went out the door.

very cool song Nick, love it. Sounds very similar to my daily routine. I have a 44 mile drive each way to work along one of the busiest sections of motorway in the country. Takes anything from 50 minutes on a rare good day to 2 hours and more if there's an accident. Keys, ipod, phone, water, id pass, lunch, man-bag, e-cigarette, spare parts for e-cigs, e-liquid, etc...  Coming home is even longer. Like you say in the song.. wasting my time !

Nice work ! Pete

I really like the fact that you used nonsense words. Nice one!

I'm a sucker for 7/4, a sucker for stylish stripped down music, sucker for electronica, sucker for this track. And I love the bass, if that's done on a double bass, I'm going to be furious.

Inventive cool sound, really excellent variation with the double bass as the centre piece, the Robert Smith comment on your vox rings true too, excellent  stuff!!

Oh yes.

This is hypnotic. Really digging the fusion of electronica with jazzy bass and trumpet.

And, of course, can totally identify with the excellent lyric.

So good.

That was a genius moment.

There is so much good in this post. Love the time signature, the tones, the mood, that killer bass (I am stunned by this), great singing, and playing.

Downloaded. I can only hope that the second verse appears with the aforementioned lyric.

Thanks Blooby.

I'd better get my finger out and redo the second verse I suppose, then.

No problems. Its not original. Almost anyone over 40-50 in Australia would know that little rhyme, so I'd say it public domain.
