Late entry for the heartbreak fest.
You Know What I Mean
Phil Collins cover
Great job with this fragile tune, love it!!! but would like your vocal a bit higher in the mix.
Rock On!
Nice keys man, some lovely runs there, didn't expect you to do a cover like this Nick
Well done.

Nice one Nick. One of my favourites from the Face Value album. More please.
I agree with the other Songcrafter members. The piano playing is excellent.
Nick
Thanks for the comments.
I agree that the vocal is a bit quiet. Truth be told I was probably trying to hide it in the mix so it wouldn't be so obvious how bad it is. On Thursday when I was belting this out in the car driving home from work I thought I would knock it out of the park. Then Friday recording was a struggle (although this actually could have something to do with me belting it out the night before). I'd like to do the whole vocal again, not sure I'll get the chance though.
Turns out Phil Collins is a better singer than me. Who knew?
Good to see I'm not the only one to cover Phil. :).
Excellently done Nick!
I'm a fan
I really like the arrangement on this and yes the vocals add a certain fragility. Where's 7thson, I miss his covers!
It's great to hear something a bit different on here.
I'm on my 3rd listen . . .
Takes me back - my first boyfriend gave me a Face Value cassette (yes I'm that old) for my birthday, he's dead now . . .
You really don't muck about when covering a song. Went right for bare-bones with tricky timing and quite a range. Very nice job on this.

Do you despise Phil Collins
that much?

Nothing to do with me, quite a shock to find out he's dead though . . .
That's a fine cover, Nick. And fine piano playing, too. I would like to be able to sing that well.

Wow Nick - this is a tough one to tackle - great stuff, well done.

Don't know the original song, but I can appreciate what you put into this. Nice tickling of the ivories, and the fragile vocal emphasizes the heartbreak angle. Nice one, man.
Very moving cover. Piano sounds good!
I was playing with this and came up with this version. The comments about the voice needing to be louder were valid and I did that. There's some small instrumentation updates too.
Well done Nick, this was a big song to tackle. I daresay the melody is quite tricky, so well done a really good version of this. Enjoyed that a lot.
Mike
I love the arrangement of this one Nick and the fragility of your voice - I still think I prefer the first one though, comes across as a bit more bruised if that makes any sense.
