Title: Record keyboards on BR800
Post by: snurdf on March 01, 2015, 02:19:53 AM
Hi all, I'm new to all this so go easy on me please. I've just purchased a Yamaha psr400 on ebay and I'm wondering what's the best way to record it through th BR.
I'm just a bit concerned because I had a bit of trouble trying to put an electronic drum kit through it. The hi hats were drowning out the other drums. I put to LIne in and it was fine but I then didn't know how to record them or even if it was possible.
Anyway, I know you guys know how to do all this so I thought I'd ask so I'm not struggling once the keyboard arrives. ???

Cheers,

Roy.

On my Juno di. I use a stereo lead from the keyboards headphone socket to the br800 line in. On the br800 menu I select
Input selection as line in. Not sure about your problem with drums. But as with keyboard make sure you select appropriate effect patch for instrument. Hope that is of some help but I am relatively new to the br800 too.

Thanks for that Oldrottenhead. I just had a look and see that when you do this it records on track 3 & 4. I suppose then you can copy it to one of the stereo tracks (5&6 or 7&8) or bounce it. Am I correct?

you can record to any track/tracks. if recording in stereo i would record to tracks 7/8 which is a stereo track. tho you could record to 1/2, 3/4 etc. if you want to record in mono change the input select from stereo to mono via the menu button. you can then arm any track from 1 to 6 to record to.

no need to bounce until you have used up the 8 tracks, tho you have to turn on mastering, if you are bouncing turn off mastering effects. then it's a whole new lesson of selecting and using the v tracks. each track has 8 virtual tracks. on starting a song all tracks are v1. mastering by default sends music to tracks 7/8 v8. but you can set destination wherever.
