So this song came out of my favorite fest ever (under 2 min) & was 64's 1st original post. https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=15100 (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=15100), brilliant lyric & vocal by ORH! I'm always somewhat apprehensive about attempting tribute covers, it's so much more personal than say... 70's fest. I'm still not sure if Gnasty appreciated my solo banjo cover of "Stepping Stone" but I love to play that song & I really love to play this tune now!
Done yesterday in my car on the 008. The pedal steel is thumbjam, the rest is through the onbard mics.
1 uke vocal (stereo)
1 high uke lead
1 lower uke lead/rythm
1 2nd vocal
1 pedal steel (stereo) TJ

Super tribute brother. Great performance, excellent vocals and you really are the uke-master. Plus I really like the 2nd vocal thing (you've done this on a couple recently). The second vocal really sounds like it is way back in the distance, that's really sounds amazing.

Uke Master is right, Hook,
Really enjoyed this one,
Bruno is right the 2nd vocal sounds way back, So professional......
Alex
Brilliant hook. Love everything about this.
Vocals, in particular the second vocal line, uke, arrangement with steel guitar thumjam sounds, everything here is brilliant.
Love that tribute!
Jean-Sébastien
Hook, excellent tribute for 64's and ORH's song. You've captured an extra good Uke sound here and the distant backing voice is a great add!

Stunning!!! The ukes sound amazing!! Really good interpretation!
Man seriously good. Crystal clear emotion, playing, and clarity.
You sure do these quick. Something i`m working on but don`y think it can happen. Great Tribute to a great song.

What gave you that idea? i love it. It`s on my phone. I listen to it a lot as i do other members songs too. :)
Well this is a nice surprise to start my day with! Thanks Hook! I never thought that anyone would want to cover my one and only original song but I'm glad that you did. You've done a great job of it too. I especially like the lead ukulele and I'm glad that you took the time to learn those leads because I think they're an important part of the song. The vocals sound great too. And I agree that oldrottenhead's lyrics are brilliant. The only lyrics I usually take notice of are those that tell a bit of a story, and oldrottenhead did that brilliantly for this song, especially given its short length.
Uke On Bro!

As my daughter is fond of saying - amazin'
That TJ pedal steel deserves a mention too. Quietly, your the TJ master too. Could never get the hang of it myself.
That is some fancy uke picking, Hook! I remember the original from 64G & orh, and this is a very cool re-interpretation.
Pluck on!
I like this, great work on a great song.
This is wonderful, great interpretation and as 64 mentions that little lead riff in between the vocal lines is a really important and integral part that you have faithfully reproduced.
Missed the original, but this has made me a big fan of it and that background vocal you have added is a touch of genius.
Very, very nice!
I thought *I already commented.... oh well ...
many listens later ....
Still fabulous !!
This is excellent work Duke !!! (yeah .. I do agree ... you're dhe duke of ukes !!!)
