Holiday Song by Farrell Jackson. It's a solo acoustic instrumental done on my Taylor GS Mini. Mic'ed with two mics in an XY configuration and also using the onboard pickup plugged direct. I then blended and panned the three tracks to taste. I also tuned down from the standard E to D. This really let the guitar and strings resonate.
Very festive atmosphere on this! Great composition and really fantastic picking, too! Fine acoustic tone is icing on the cake!
I'm glad to write the 5000th message of mine on the song like this :D .

The Taylor Mini sounds just gorgeous in this lowered tuning (and of course your playing brings out the best from it). I've had an eye on one of these Minis for a while now, but the missus would likely flay me alive if I bought another guitar... :D
Beautiful, tranquil piece Farrell.
Yeah - that sounds amazing. Awesome playing and track, excellent playing. Interesting approach to recording as well.

Oh my ... this sounds fabulous !!!!!
Fantastic musicianship ! Fantastic recording !!!
Just a big WOW from the southern coast of Norway !!!
Reminds me a bit of Phil Keaggy, which is a good thing in my book !!
Beautful picking Farrell
lovely sound from that acoustic.
Tommy
Excellent work, as a guitar player, as a composer, as a recording technician and as engineer.
I mean, perfect by every point of view!!!
Alfredo
It bugs me that your all the way across the country brother, I so would love to jam with you. This is some wonderful playing man, really just a wonderful piece.
Rock On!
Thanks cuthbert, Bruno, Geir, Tommy. Alfredo, and Hook for the listening to my Holiday Song! Dropping the tuning down to D from E on the Taylor GS Mini really brought out the sustain and tone from the small body.
Hook: A jam would be good brother! I've no immediate plans to head out to Florida but if I ever do I'll look you up. Likewise, if you get out west give me a call and we'll jam away.

Great picking on this on Farrell, your recording technique really worked. The tone is amazing especially for a mini.
Festive song, great job.
Happy Holidays!
So glad i didn't miss this one. This is a pure delight Farrell. You play electrics so often i almost forgot what a great acoustic musician you are. The recording techique paid off in spades and the tune down on the mini is nothing short of amazing. I have played a couple at music stores and they didn't sound like this for sure...but then it was me playing and not you...
One of the nicest acoustic tunes ever from you i think. Another big fav of mine was one you did years ago..."Autumn Rain". If this isn't on that "all acoustic" album you once spoke of, it should be. I don't think it's necessarily a "christmas song" at all...altho it does have a lovely festive feel.
Beautful tune my friend!

ps...Hope you don't get washed away out there with all that rain. Feast or famine!
This is just fabulous. You are a true musician. I think I've said it before and I say it again:
I'm a fan.
Beautiful Farrell, just beautiful....
Really well done, just love the guitar tones..........
Alex
Oh well, what can I say? Marvelous that's what I will say. Great recording and beautifully played. I am going to have to get the acoustic guitar out.
Paul
100% beautiful and perfect. Thats how to write and play and record an acoustic piece. You have just put on a masterclass here.....and I find it very inspiring. Lovely. This is exactly what I like....right here.....yeah
just heard this one on the 2014 sampler, glad i didn't miss it. fabulous playing farrell.
Crikey this is gorgeous Farrell! Wonderful musicianship and the way you have setup recording that Taylor has obviously worked brilliantly because it sounds sublime!
