Title: I'll stop lurking
Post by: guitarron on February 18, 2008, 09:14:01 AM
I been following this site since the holidays and have found it to be very useful
My name is Ron Jones, I live in the Detroit area, am 48 years old and like ORH, am still a teen at heart.
I've played in various types and genres of bands since i was a kid. My influences were guitar players like Joe Perry, Ted Nugent, Robin Trower, Rory Gallegher, other guitar hero types.
I'm really enjoying jazz these days. but still like to rock out
I play nearly entirely by improvision
I wanted to start using a BR to get back to basics in writing and recording. I have fallen victim to technolgy. Useful as computers are, I find they can really stop inspiration dead in its tracks.
RJ
btw thanks Pedro for facilitating this site-keep up the good work

Thanks a lot Ron!

I'm really glad to have such a great guitar player as yourself participate in this forum and share your music and knowledge.

Those are some great rockers.

I'm getting into Jazz right now as well, its not something one imediatelly loves but it can get you. I really love a band called Morphine which is somewhat jazzy and sometimes I listen to Coltrane and Miles Davis. But I haven't found that one musician or group that makes you listen to their sound all day. Is there something you would recommend?

Yes, especially when setting things up. That is the most annoying part for me.
