Title: Stop counting - a Jarle original
Post by: Jarle on June 01, 2014, 10:57:22 AM
I don't speak with animals........ :D

Stop Counting
W/M - Jarle
Guitars, TJ sounds, vocal and bacing vocals - Jarle
A bird went by, it whispered in my ear.
I have the answer, I know it all.

My dog came in and told me not to worry.
I have the answer, I know it all.

Stop counting the days.
Don't measure life in years.
What matters in the end
Is what you have done. x2

My cat showed up and looked me in the eye.
I have the answer, I know it all.

Stop counting the days.
Don't measure life in years.
What matters in the end
Is what you have done.2x
What matters in the end
Is what you have done.

I like the production on this.
Everything seems clear and balanced.

Nice guitar work and great harmonies.
Mamas and Papas come to mind.

Another TJams fan, eh?

Excellent

Wow, your fingerpicking along with those strings sounds really lush! Really fine vocals, especially your harmonies. Really beautiful song.

Beautiful song Jarle, the music has a slight lullaby sound to it, but when you read the lyrics and listen to your vocal it goes far deeper than this.

Wonderful finger picked guitar, and love it when the Cello comes in adding extra weight to the chorus.

Definitely one of my favourites of yours, this has a magical quality.

Absolutly beautiful song.  A great northern folk-of-the-woods song, I can almost see the little folk running around as I listen, magic and mystery and melody all come together in perfect balance here.  Thats some damn tasty acoustic playing.

Ha ha... excellent stuff. Very nice, quite poignant to think of these various animals giving sage like advice. Very nice and humble but kinda profound too. Very nice!

Beautifully done.

Great post Jarle. I feel a Cat Stevens influence, probably the strings. Please keep them coming.

...

Never underestimate the wisdom of your pets, take time to "listen" to what they have to teach you.

I don't know about Cat Stevens but I surely was influenced by a cat. (I'm sorry but it was too obvious to be ignored)  ::)

Suuuuuuuuuuuure you don't. It says you do right there in the lyric.  I very much like the harmony vocals. They work very well for me. And as has already been said the guitar is nicely played and sounds good to boot.

Great bump! I commented on this when it was new, but somehow completely forgot about it. 2014 is kind of a blur for me, but a year in particular when the message of this song was resonant.
