A stunner.
Love the drone (always), and that's some wicked leads you've got there. It all sounds so organic, like it just sprang to life as is…and of course, we know that's not the case. And that's another part of your art.
Downloading this for further listening...

sounds fab, getting a bit of distortion on my headphones, downloading to pipod for further study.

Yes I too dig the droning. When done correctly it supports the lyric brilliantly without competing.
Organic is the perfect description of its use here.
You're such a creative musician... even when you're trying to create a "monotonous low dull sound". O0

Some may say G sharp. But it sounds more like A flat.
I May be wrong.
The lyrics are more than something to do with your mouth on this one.
Nice.
You're a semi-tone out....either way, very close...
The lyrics are always something to do with my mouth, teeth and tongue....the meaning (if any) is purely for the listener to unravel in their own peculiar way. If I was to ever 'spill the beans', the truth would be more boring than this particular 'nugget'. I saw an advert today. Did you know you can now buy a shitting dog for Barbie as well as a pissing cat? I believe the kids say WTF. Me, I'm old fashioned and prefer 'what the fuck is that all about?' To quote Nilsson, 'you see what you wanna see and you hear what you wanna hear. D'ya dig?'

probably because the nearest guitar to me is a semitone out.
Wasps you must always take seriously.

Choc-a-block with henny goodness. Nice fat sound on my headphones, and I love that singing guitar solo. Another belter.

Really great song. It has a good honest 90's alternative or something sound a la Smashing Pumpkins. Digging the fuzz solo and the dreamy stoner droner.

Did he say 90's :o .....................wicked song Hen-man. Like so much of yer stuff, I honestly don't know quite what to make of it. I will need repeat listens on various sound systems to properly gel an opinion of this monster ditty. The fat, wide vocals really do it for me as well, I love that kind of vocal sound you get up to, especially on headphones, where it sounds like you are singing right inside my head. And of course the drone quality.......who doesn't love a good drone to wash away the sting and dirt of the world once in a while.

Lovin' the show Particularly like the vox. Nicely recorded too. About the only way you could improve this ... May I suggest ... Is some better drum sounds?
Maybe it's me, 'cause I seem to be zoning in on drums tonight. 8)

Oh and how I'd love to! But I'm restricted to the Micro BR's palette of kit sounds. Sure, I could try harder, but my inherent laziness combined with the ridiculous speed at which I churn this shit out means that 'It is what it is....'

Another great bit of fabulous henny magic. I love the lead guitar tone. And I always love a good drone. One of my favourites is in Canned Heat's "On the Road Again" (http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/On+The+Road+Again/1p9Z3X). DroneFest anyone? (All submitted songs must have a single drone note throughout the entire song. Might be a fun challenge.)
Oh, don't remind me! I'm plagued by wasps every year. They build nests in the cavities and crevices of my car (doors, trunk, gas cap, side mirrors). I haven't been stung yet but it's only a matter of time. And this year's wasp season will be starting in a month or so. :o :(

Wow, that's early. It's much later than that here in good ol' Blighty. Not 'til at least August and September.
I can't take the credit for this, but I heard someone on the radio once musing about bee's making honey and wasp's making mustard. I really like that. That's the sort of shit that lays dormant in my raisin sized brain and when I need to, I'll pull it out and bend it slightly so I can use it....

DroneFest... I like the sound of that. I'm a fan of 'D' drones for some reason. I used to do a rendition of 'The End' by the Doors with a D-drone going on. It morphed eventually into the Kite track 'Heart of Stone'.
Sitar drones get me going. Not wasps though. Spiteful little bastards.

A Flat - or E flat. Melancholy keys these. I'd like a dronefest. Should we add it to the choices 64G?

The bass sounds gets me each time with a Henwrench song...and that fat and slightly fuzzy tone is wicked.
I love this song, it is wonderfully constructed and as usual there is a real melodic quality to it and the way it flows from verse to chorus is superb.
I have always been a fan of songs where the lead/solo stays close to the vocal melody, and yours here just sings out perfectly.
Great song!

this is so good we don't need a drone fest : this song is a drone fest by itself !

Great composition... great recording.
How do you record your vocals? What mic / device combo are you using?
Title: Re: Limited Stock Of One
Post by: henwrench on April 25, 2014, 03:12:21 PM
As with everything I do, it's all done on the MicroBR...internal mic, open mouth, make noises, record noises. As with probably all the MBR users, I hold it like it's a phone, but sing across the mic not into it. This will eliminate pops and unwanted breath 'hits' on the mic. Unusually, the vocals on this particular song are triple tracked and panned hard left, center and hard right. The two hard panned tracks are also very compressed and much lower in volume than the main center vocal....beans, spilled.

Great sound here. Love the melodic guitar work at the end. Like a combination of Robert Fripp and Rivers Cuomo. The bass tone is awesome as well, so tight. Very cool song :)
