And So It Shall Be
by MisterNelson
Verse
I can feel the warmth from a firefly; hear its sweet song on the wind.
Fortunate to find, the love of my life, then the world chimed in.
They cursed our union as doomed from the start, but we held on as tight as we could.
But I was the first to lose my grip, when I never thought I would.
And I fear I've lost you for good.

Chorus
So, I blast through the forest as swift as I can, in search of the wizard with the healing hand.
He said, catch your breath then follow this plan, as he points to a message etched in the sand.
Well, I must run through the meadow and down to the sea then blindly go, where the current takes me.
Redemption's cost is steep indeed.  So it is written and so it shall be.

Verse
Our prayers have all been answered, the dream is about to begin.
Side by side for the rest of our lives, then the world chimed in.
Hurling slings and arrows and the vilest critiques, they could.

Bridge
So here I am, with my heart in my hand.
But if you'd rather not see me, I'd understand.
But please allow me this moment to move you, if I can.
With a promise to never let you go, again.

Chorus
I'll run through the meadow and down to the sea.
Then blindly go where the current takes me.
Cause my redemption's cost is steep, indeed.
So it is written and so it shall be.

Oh man, this good Nelson.  There is something very appealing, its meloncally, very lyrical, the instrumentation is really somethig, fantstic job on all levels.  The lyrics flow so smooth and easy.  i read the lyrics first, before playing, and couln't imagine fitting all that in.  You did it man, really did it with this beauty.  My most favorite Nelson song.  Bravo.  It works on all levels for me.

My friend, I come to your music with a sense of trepidation, it's because you touch the very essence of humanity - life, love, loss, betrayal, and I cannot listen to your voice without being moved, you're songs change my mood, my general outlook on life. I have to take a deep breath and throw myself into your environment, accept what you present, take the beautiful melody, the meaningful and sometimes painful words, make the sense I can - there's always a parallel, your songs are personal, but they describe the human condition. I don't know how you do it. I'm glad you can do it. This would would be a smaller and less thoughtful place without you.

Musically, this is delightful. Lyrically it's thoughful and it speaks to me; it's wonderful.

Very lovely song :) The sorrow that came through from both your lyrics and voice was very beautiful to me. Great opening lines and I like that you placed them at the closing as well.

This is a fine song sir.
Poetically put but easy enough to follow. And I do relate.
It has a medieval feel to it as many classics do.
Nicely written, sung and played

This is a fantastic song Nelson! The story and the way you present it vocally is pure poetry. The uncluttered backing instruments are mixed perfect to let your words and voice take the spotlight at center stage. Nice!

Wonderful work Nelson...thanks for sharing the link.  Always been a fan of yours...not just because your vocals are top shelf but also because you write quality songs. The poetry in this is fantastic...gifted. You phrase it all to perfection too. Great piano and fine bass work...a timeless story that is brought home oh so well. Excellent imagery throughout. One of your best my friend...and bound for that upcoming album!
