Title: War Child - andy casson
Post by: andy casson on September 25, 2013, 01:58:43 AM
BassFest (banner image missing)

A bit inspired by some of the BassFest entries, so here is my attempt  :), heartily continuing a theme of devils and war...seems appropriate with only the bass to work with! This is using a riff I have played around with for years but never used.... I dropped one bass track deciding to let the main riff carry it....
Recording: 2 bass tracks (ibanez 5 string), 2 vocal tracks. PC/Sonar X2 via EMU-1616, and shed loads of effects!

Enjoy  ;D

War Child

Signs in the heavens maybe...say it's my time
Raining fire from heaven baby...my time to shine
Set sail for oblivion baby... it feels so right
Put your house in order baby... take a walk into mine

Because I am a War Child baby, and War is mine

Sing for the soldiers baby....sing for them all
Grieve for the widows baby... grieve for them all

So good. Has an INXS kind of deep, edgy groove. The sparseness works really nicely, and I like the echo & panning on the vocal parts. Fantastic work.

Well done Andy! It is amazing with this bassfest how all the songs sound so full with just bass, drums, and vocals. Your song doesn't lack or need any other instruments to capture musical attention. Nice work!

It's a bass and war fest today, loving this track Andy. I like the driving bass groove, that's a very cool riff and it works very well with the drums. Great atmospheric vocals and the bass sounds great throughout. A very dark and moody piece, well done.

Cheers,

Nigel

Oooh, some serious, serious riffage.
Love the grittiness and general dark vibe; and a fade-out as well - we don't get nearly enough of those.
You don't mention where the drums are from?? I'd be interested.
A great listen, and superb upload. Well done Mr C.  8)
