First, apologies for not being around much during July - lost my mother-in-law and then my auntie and what with the hot weather as well, I've not felt much like recording anything.
Anyway, ORH suggested this song for me - Pete Shelley was the singer with the Buzzcocks who I loved but this song wasn't familiar. Found it on YouTube - mmm, bit of a camp video, also covered by Pansy Division. According to Wiki, the BBC banned it for 'explicit reference to gay sex'. So thats why I'd never heard it.
Found the lyrics but there's not a single tab for it so I had to work the chords out myself (which I'm crap at) - luckily, if I'm right, there's only 4.
So here goes....
brilliant pete c. i had this single from the day it was released, never twigged re the gay sex stuff lol, even tho pete shelley was always quite fey.
Great job Pete. As you may know, I too love Buzzcocks - saw them a couple of months back - and I do remember the song but not that familiar with. But I ramble.
You've done a great job though. Chords sound pretty spot on to my ear. Smashing. :)
I was trying to think of one for you yesterday but this is just perfect Pete, you've done a mighty fine job with it. I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and your auntie x
Great job. Love the guitars and the bleepy synth sound. Excellent vocal too.
You definitely captured the Buzzcocks vibe - loving the guitar and synth (that a VL-Tone?). Nice one, man.
The synth bit is a Yahama PS something or other that my son had as a kid. One of those 100 preset jobs. I do have a VL Tone - didn't think of using that !
Fab man, really good energy here. Great cover.
Great cover, love the vocal and energy, well done!
Well done. Love the energy.
JOA
Excellent job on this!! Love the guitars and vocals and yes that synth is cool!!
Rarely come over to the covers area (just don't have the time, sorry) but I saw this on the home page and as someone who bought the album back in the day I had to come over and listen. Great version, it actually sounds like how the Buzzcocks would have done it because Shelley's solo version was more electronica-ish. Great job and great fun, brought back some good memories of that era.
A mighty fine cover and rendition . u did a killer preformance.
and with no chords. a great job. this kicks. .... congrats 2 thumbs
up Neil .!
yep ... this is all good !!
Love it, great job on the vocals !
OTD, I missed this one 1st time around, great suggestion & a fine cover of a tune I remember quite well.
Rock On!
Oh yes. I'm glad this was bumped, 'cause I missed if too ;D
I love that bleeping synth & the full sound you've got in the recording.
Good job.
The Vox remind of Jarvis Cocker in places ... Also not a bad thing :)
Great Job Pete i too missed this first time round but i got there in the end great job...
One of The Random Dozen.
Top class Pete.
Love it.
Alex.
Rip Pete Shelley
FMGWABP!
Incredible energy... love the guitar sounds and your vocals really work... glad I got to hear this.
you sound like the Kinks... the vocals for sure... I love that... this rocks to the moon and back.
There was a really good American band called The Smithereens. They rocked and this has that sort of vibe too... wicked good man.
glad it got bumped.
