Title: BR 800 Rhythm Editor
Post by: IanR on April 27, 2013, 03:07:14 AM
Hi Folks,

Yesterday I had my first go at creating a drum track from scratch using the  Rhythm Editor software.  After a while, I realised that my song was in 3/4 and I could get the drum beats in about the right places.  But the drum track that I created sounded very unmusical.

I am very used to putting together the drum patterns from the BR800 but because this song is in 3/4, the only drum track that fits is the click track.

Does anyone have any tips for writing drum tracks?  Are there any good guide books around?  How do others do this job?

Obviously, I understand that one of the keys is to tap out the beat you want on the desk in front of you and then try to make it happen with the rhythm editor.  I tried this but I found it hard to recreate.

I have a new respect for drummers.

regards,

Ian

A couple of years ago, I wrote a tutorial on creating 3/4 patterns with the BR Rhythm Editor. I never got around to finishing the section on arrangements but there's plenty of detailed info on creating a 3/4 pattern.

Thanks 64 Guitars

I've had a quick look. It looks very comprehensive. I'll have a good read tomorrow and let you know how I go.
