Title: Ahava by Haltia (Now, on YouTube)
Post by: Redler on March 20, 2013, 04:48:42 AM
Hi!

This is the first time when Haltia (Päivi and me) perform our song on "band version"; guitars, bass and drums! The song is about early spring, sun, melting snow, dirty windows and increasing amount of light....
Recorded on MicroBR.

Thanks for listening!

Kari

Vocals by Päivi on ForNylon preset (reverb 28)
Lyrics, composition, all instruments and background vocals by Kari
Electroacoustic 12 string Tanglewood on P09:SQR TR and P05:ForNylon preset
Harley Benton bass on P79 BassCrnc preset
Drums programmed on MicroBR
Mixed on Audacity

Here's the lyrics for our Finnnish friends:

Ahava

Paista kevättalven aurinko
Sulata karkea lumi
Tuule maaliskuun ahava tuuli
Haihduta kuiviksi kadun kivet
Ja tunne ihan pieni kevään kosketus

Tule rauhaton kirkas valo
Paljasta likaiset ikkunat
Jotka tulevat silmieni eteen joka kevät
Tunne ihan pieni kevään kosketus

Bridge:

Tee kotisi levottomaan rintaani
virtaa purona vuolaana valoisaan iltaani

Kanna aamun hanki kepeät jalkani
Soi soliseva vesi sävelinä korvissani
Tuoksu levännyt vanha maa
Tunne ihan pieni kevään kosketus
Ihan pieni kevään kosketus

Bridge:

Tee kotisi levottomaan rintaani
Virtaa purona vuolaana valoisaan iltaani

As always Kari, you've done a masterful job with music and the arrangement.
Guitar tones are really sweet and the production is crisp.

Paivi has such a soothing voice, I can almost see the light through the dirty windows.   8)

Enjoyed the listen.

Great song, and nice use of the SQR TR Patch on the BR Kari, never used it myself on a song but it is the perfect match here.

I'm picking up too on that wonderful melodic punchy bass line too, it holds everything together beautifully and love how it weaves its way around the guitar chords.

The breakdowns are perfectly placed too, and provide a really nice change of pace and contrast with the main parts of the song.

The vocal is out of this world!

I browsed the guitar patches and I think too that it matches quite well on this.

Thanks for the comments and the double rainbow tag :D

Today, I uploaded the video. Clips and pics are from our region. Taken by me and Päivi's 13 year old son, Topias.

Wow, this is a stunner! I love the shimmery 12-string and the SQR TR tremolo/distortion - great blend of tones. Love the dynamics you add, great backing vox, and of course Päivi has a terrific voice!

Well done, you two - this is a keeper. Going to watch the video now. :)

Beautiful song Kari!  Piavi has a wonderful voice.  Makes me wish I could understand Finnish, but the mood is warm and vibrant like spring.  Great playing and arrangement.  Really like the tone you're getting on you 12 string and liked the break a lot.  Very cool!  DD
