Title: Return Of The Grievous Angel (Excerpt)
Post by: henwrench on February 27, 2013, 06:36:11 AM
70sFest (banner image missing)

Total cop-out. Rushed for the '70's Fest.  :D Obviously a song not to be even attempted, hence this 'abridged' version. Vocal goes all over the place, flitting from Parsons' line to Emmylou's. All live, one guitar and one vocal but only half a song....

Don't know the original (I know, I know), but love what you did with it...sounds complete to me. Great live feel, and it just works.

WHAT!!!!!  :D  It is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest songs ever written. You gotta look it up!!

So f*cking fine! You fit the song so well, or maybe the song fits you?! Either way, it's all good. Very bloody good. And I'm happy to see the (very) underrated Mr Parsons getting some more attention. Would recommend anyone to check him out. My favourite track of his (by far) is 'She', but I don't have the guts to take it on.

Great work my friend.

I'm staggered at how little known Gram is. One of my faves. I beg anyone who is into music to try and get hold of a copy of 'Sacred Hearts and Fallen Angels: The Gram Parsons Anthology'. A finer double album surely cannot exist.

That's the one I have. Possibly the coolest cover picture of all-time too!

HA!! I bought it when it was released in 2001. I was fully aware of GP, but had never heard a single note. Strolling around the record shop (!), I saw the cover. I bought the album on the strength of the cover picture, as you say, possibly the coolest cover picture of all-time. HA HA HA, god, yes!! I had a really old lime green Skoda Fabia Estate at the time (the best car I've ever had). It had a CD player in it. Disc One was inserted and I rolled a massive number (for the road, of course). I think I must've listened to those CD's solidly for about 4 months. I'm listening to it now, but minus the skunk. I gave up drugs a good few years ago now... 8)

oh yea, something similar (he's the one to fall in love with, men and women of course ;-) I bought as a pack GP & Grevious Angel - too much for ears to bear, just overpowering. CD dead for consumptions

Well done Henny, I have the album which comes out on a fairly regular basis but I can't help thinking something died in Emmylou when he did. Just by chance I'm going to see Albert Lee tonight who was in her backing band for a while.
I just love this and I'm sure it will get many plays when I download it later............Willie
