Title: Give me a Sign
Post by: andy casson on February 22, 2013, 12:34:27 PM
More friday night musings for your auditorial considerations. Must say this has ended up nothing like the the G, C, F riff I was playing with last night..., and almost no guitar, while also a restrained vocal. I think the Elbow influences are coming out....
Enjoy  :)

Give me a Sign

Is there an answer or a cure
That can reach me today, dig deep in this earth

If you should whisper I will hear
If you cry to the night I will hold you so near
If you are feeling so small
I will take up your burden and carry you home

Said the beggar to the thief
I have nothing worth stealing sat here on the street
Said the witness to the priest
I saw what I saw tell me what to believe

Give me a sign, tell me what for
If there are no answers or reasons shaping this walk

Give me a sign......

Good drum sound, the limited guitar worked well with the overall vibe of the song.

The sign should read, "Brilliant song Andy." :)

Love the vocals, the lyrics are stunning and that bass just keeps it all together.

Awesome Vibe from start to finish.

For being kind of restrained this is a really big song here brother! You have a real talent for creating these monster, stadium anthems & I dig 'em!
Rock On!

Overall vibe is haunting and addictive. Solid bass holds you in the pocket. Spooky keys are perfect for your great lyrics and excellent vocal delivery. Excellent tune Andy. Very well done!!!

I really find this hypnotic.
The bass drives it forward and yet I find myself trapped.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Elbow influence in my book, your songs, like theirs, always have an anthemic vibe to them with a rousing sing-a-along quality.

I love the sparseness of the arrangement, it combines perfectly with the restrained vocal, it kind of sounds melancholy but huge and uplifting at the same time.

That bass just anchors everything together wonderfully, and the when the guitar came in at 3.20 was a real goosebump moment, and love the fact that it only stayed for a fleeting moment before the keys returned as it would have been easy to have gone for the big guitar solo at that point, and kind of love the fact that it you didn't....the perfect example of using restraint in a song.

Pretty bloody fantastic this one Andy.
