1979- Huge band/album for me. Never played this song before until yesterday, took me a little while to find my place in it, and I forgot the verse leading into the bridge but I dig where that mistake took that verse.
1 live guitar/vocal (stereo)
1 rythm uke
1 lead uke
1 smooth steele (thumbjam)
2 harmony vocal tracks
Boy's Don't Cry
written by Michael Dempsey, Robert Smith, and Lol Tolhurst
performed by Hook
absolutelyt beautiful slide is awesome and just perfect for the song.
Fabulous. I don't think I know the original but this is a gorgeous song. Beautifully sung and played. ThumbJam makes it polished and complete.
This is a winner!! Beautiful tune, fantastic and unique interpretation!! Each addition you've put on this works perfectly! Fest on!

So well done, hook - l really dig where you took this! That steel guitar is a great accompaniment...I almost get a Big Star vibe from it all.
I did like a lot of the Cure's early stuff back in the day (including this song), but I sort of soured on their later songs. So Cure fans probably won't care for my heretical views, but I can say I honestly prefer yours to original. Fest on, indeed! :)
excellent production, sounds amazing. One of your best.
Amazing (as always!)
That thumbjam is really a treat!

?!? but, what planet ??!
Good Lord, this is wonderful, off the scale of awesomeness. Brilliant! But!? 70's?! Feel! So! Old!

Beautifully done. I really like where you've gone with this. Shows there was a good song behind all Robert's smeared lipstick posturing after all! *
*I have mixed views on The Cure. I love certain songs, but didn't like the people who were into them at the time...
A real beauty of a cover Hook! Great vocals and the thumbjam steel is perfect for this song.

A beaut, Bro. Excellently and subtly done.
B.
Superbly gentle, almost has a lullaby quality, I also love the steel work.
Perfect!
One of my favourite early Cure songs & you do it particularly well.
Very subtle version, which just floats along.
Very Cool

This works so well. I grew up with the original as a part of my lifes soundtrack, this made me really listen to the song again, so well known and it's wonderful.
Nice one Hook, it's a keeper.
Beautiful...
The guitar sounds great.

I was into them at the time (which you could probably guess from my profile pic), although I do sympathise. I felt the same about U2.
I enjoyed this, Hooky, although perhaps a little twee for my tastes. Lovely recording and arrangement, though all the same.
Oh lovely Hook :)
This shuffled onto my iPod coming back from the tip earlier (after disposing of a mountain of cardboard) and it really made me smile. What a great cover this is.
:)
