this is one of the first songs i recorded on my microbr. i think i made every mistake possible. drums where done on pc then sent via line in and half way through lost left channel so drums go mono for a few bars.
mix is terrible, vocals are too far back in mix and are hard to understand , keyboards and guitar are way too loud, but i am sad to admit i liked it. well for about 5 minutes anyway.this is the first posting of this song anywhere so is an exclusive for microrecorders.org coz i'm so ashamed of the track lmao.
constructive criticism is welcome but probably far too late. here yeah go.
I can tell it is not just you that like this recording! In fact I think it is a pretty good song and recording.
The mix: I like this mix, I like the fact that your base vocals are on the left instead of the middle. And when the harmony vocals come in the right channel it creates the effect that the voice is centered but you can't hear just one melody, you hear both and at the same volume. I also like to do this "trick". When the left channel of the drums goes off it is hardly noticed. Maybe because it happens on tempo.
The song: Very good song. Its an exclusive, thats cool! ;D

Hey, this is a very good song. Was only waiting for some screaming guitar at the end.
Keep up the good work! I like it !!!
Ok, maybe when compared to your contemporary work a tad short on the quality, but feel the width!! Great song.
Cool Jim!!!!!
It's Braw!!!!
You is the BR daddy!
Hey Covermark and all other newcomers, you really should check out ORH's other work here too. He's got tons of good stuff, alone and with others. He is also the lead singer of Jemima's Kite, "the Beatles" of bossbr.net.

bump lol
Pretty damn good song brother, sounds good through my crappy computer speakers!
Rock on!
Hey ORH I agree with all the comments about this being a good song. Honestly the mix mistakes didn't bother me or I just didn't notice them...either way it's a good song and a good listen!
Farrell
A 10-year-old OTD Bump,
Nice one James, Like my Malt it just gets better and better with age.
Well done.
Alex.
totally glad that Kenny Mac decided to cover this.... I listened to his first...
it's almost easy to forget these are the same song...it's really like 2 different songs...
this reminds me a ton of a band I really liked alot called the Flock of Seagulls....they had a 80's synth and guitar and tech sound that I thought was fab...
your song here Jim is amazing to me...glad I got to hear it...the ride cymbals send this to another level for me...
ain't a damn thng wrong with this.... put it on the radio now...as is. especially like the backing vox
i was kind of shocked to see that this thing went more than a year with one,,,1....one comment...
must of been very slow days at the start of SC....but I am so glad it still survives!......long live SC!!!!
oh yeah...this is the bomb....great frigging song
Good bump. Very solid. Proper remake not necessary
Excellent song, very much an art rock sheen to the original (coming here from Kenny's cover). I love the ethereal organ and the vocals are awesome as well, great ending to the track as well. What a lyric...
Wooo - never heard this one before.
Yeah, it's fab. No, really SERIOUSLY fab.
Yeah, Flock of Seagulls possibly (I saw them, we didn't like the haircuts and they seemed a bit, er, dunno... but we reckoned the gig was good, we enjoyed it, and they were a bit like Hawkwind with funny hairdos... Depeche Mode on the other hand... )
Back to this, though: I know we didn't have MBRs in the 80s (Just IMAGINE if we did!!), BUT... if you'd got this recording to some scout or money dude in 1980 or so - you'd have been signed and on your way.
Brilliant.
Off to check out Kenny's cover now - don't let me down Kenny! ;D
EDIT: You didn't! holy sh1t... :)
