Great song. I'll take ORH's 'vocalised' version, and see if I can add a little telecaster flavour to it. It has a slight country feel to my ears. If you're happy for me to tinker, Holdempok... ?! :)
got anybody in mind for the bass, mike?
Go for it Mark!
go for it mARK!
I'll wait for the bass to be added so it doesn't get crazy with different versions flying around :)
are there voacls to this yet? take it away Tim.
great. heard them now can you post the words?
thanks guys for giving me my shot at stardom ;D
tim, i know your plate is full at the moment - but, i'll get on this quickly so i don't hold you up.

Let me know what ya think.
markr
very nice touch markr. ok now we need some lead?
sorry guys - took a day off. i think my wife felt neglected for this little box.
thanks for the vote of confidence mike. tim - if you haven't started on a lead yet, i would like to cool down my entry into this song. run it through Audacity to ratchet it back slightly. let me know what you think. i'm off to work for the day and will check in later.

ok is there going to be anymore added to this? I want to download it. Let me know if I'm good to go.
I'll try to add some guitar - but probably not until the weekend. Got a hundred things on the go! :D :D
Are you ok to wait till Monday?
totally. take your time. don't over do it brother. we all need time to chill. catch our breath. hell take care of our bonners. lol
i was listening to elvis costello's "Alison" and i thought the way he compliments his singing with his guitar rifs is really cool. tim – i know you're up to your elbows in alligators, but would you guys mind if i showed you what my interpretation of his technique would be for this song?
wow nice mark. was that G major scale mostly? and can you please email it to me... :)
I really like this. Don't know what it is, but it's magical.
I've had to listen to it three times so far. Fantastic.
mike (a.k.a. holdempok) to be honest with you, i don't know the difference between a G major scale and my bathroom scale. i have no clue how to read music and play strictly by ear. when i hear a song that i want to play, i look for what i call the "sweet spot" and it just opens up to me.
Flash - thank you for the compliments. i'm truely humbled.
i honestly thought nothing would come of this one , my drunken ramblings at 3am uk time, i will try and decypher the lyrics for you, really surprised where it went, think the singing and lyrics need redoing tho lmao.
i think your lyrics are spot on under those circumstances. completely born of the moment and i understand them. wasn't even drunk the first time i heard them. now that's scary, isn't it?
i did a little research and found out that i do know how to play a C major scale. at least that's what
http://www.studybass.com/tools/chord-scale-note-printer/ (http://www.studybass.com/tools/chord-scale-note-printer/)
says i played.
and, now i know.
lol mark. well now you know. Please don't forget to email it to me.

This is fantastic - thoughtful, melodic, and totally fitting the song. Needless to say, it's way better than I'd manage. I've just about progressed to mangling a pentatonic here and there :D
This song has worked out really nicely guys.
p.s. 'Alison' is one of my fave songs - a piece of songwriting I could only aspire to. Old Elvis Costello is really underrated IMO.
thanks tim - i agree with ORH in the fact that it didn't look like it would get any traction. but, it got we got it to a respectable sound in a collaborative way. i even think ORH's lyrics and vocals are perfect.
and... i apologize if i offended you - i wasn't my intention to push you out of this song, i just knew you were busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest with all you're working on.
holdempok * ORH - i'd say that's a wrap!!

Don't worry - I'm not offended! And best of all, the outcome was right for the song (which is the most important thing...). Splendid work, chaps.
well done guys. We need to get ORH pissed more often.
Cheers.
QuoteWe need to get ORH pissed more often.
dont think the missus would be too keen on that lol. but i try to as often as possible.
Remember how great this one was. Fantastic, loose, groove baby. Dynamite stuff.
