I've always dreamt of having a bespoke, hand-built guitar. You are one lucky fellow, and I hope it becomes a lifetime friend! Of course, I'd want it in a weird colour (green glitter!) lol, but that's just me. What a lovely experience though - watching it take shape is really cool.

Greeny - I know I am a lucky fellow to have this, I know what it is like to have very little and to have to make-do, so this is a big thrill for me. I figured if I didn't do it now - you never know what is around the corner, so what the 'eck :)
Not cheap, but not as expensive as you would think. In fact the taylored build is the same as buying one of their pre-built guitars - and its fascinating watching it be 'born'. I'm sure it will be a lifetime friend - and it will be played lots. B.

I am envious.
I have a buddy who has built five or six just for himself and his son. He has really impressed me. I want him to build a Gibson L-5 (solidbody) with some Seymour Duncan P-Rails. I wonder if this will ever happen.
Please continue to post images in this thread on its progress.
Congrats.

Blooby - sure thing - I will continue to add on this thread as I get them.
NB I've posted piccies of Brook No 1 (Taw), which was shop bought https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=14562.0;msg=184765 (https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=14562.0;msg=184765)
The one being built will be bigger bodied guitar (a Tavy)
The trouble with Brook Guitars is once you've played one, you're hooked :)\ B

Progress - should be ready in six weeks!
It's got the majority of the lacquer on, Brook leave it a week now to harden, then flat it down again and spray the final coats.

Bruno, if you should suddenly die, quite suddenly, can I have your guitar?
Pretty please.

Fine job...I can just imagine the feeling when you play your self made guitars.

Not self made - I wish I had the skills and the time - but made for me by some of the best guitar builders in the country - Brook are a fine company, 4 person company in the middle of no-where (well Devon). The process of seeing it come to life is quite something to see - and cheaper that an pro level Martin. Something to do once in a lifetime!

Yeah - got it this week. Used it on the recording of "The Question" - it is a very special guitar. I was going to post some sounds to enable folks to hear the finished product. Its a mad place to get to for picking up - down lots of dirt roads - and we got lost again :-) B.

A sample of how the guitar sounds. Just turned the BR on record and played a bit.
Here are some wild noodlings - all in a single take, just a touch of reverb, EQ is flat, two mikes pan hard left and right - mostly playing with a pick, last bit is finger picking.

Thanks all - this is as a result of GAS - big time (I've never heard the term GAS before this site, however I think I know what it means). I must say, its difficult to capture the full sound in a recording - they sound so beautiful live, and they are works of art. The company is a mad one, they are totally into building guitars and not business men at all. It really is in the middle of no-where and you end up with that worrying, will the car make it thoughts - but get there you do, and its so worth while - even with the GAS issue. When they gave me the guitar, they all (3 of them) came out the workshop to watch and to talk - life moves at the correct (slow) pace at Brook.
My guitar was next to their show piece guitar, go to the link - select news and scroll down - you'll see what I mean ...
