a friend of mine bought the samsung pad and it isn't a touch on the apple version......I've got the version 1 of the iPad and I love it ...so I would say go all out and spend the money on the original.......I know it's a lot more expensive but I feel it's worth the money......I know my friend regrets buying the samsung ........ a secondhand pad goes for on  eBay between £250-300 .....the only problem with it is that it doesn't play flash but you soon get over that.....it has everything else and some great music aps.....on the downside when listening to song crafters on it you can only play one song at a time as the juke box doesn't work on it it must be in flash although on the otherside at alone tone it works ok .....I don't know what the difference is though

Not sure these are worth waiting for
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/aug/31/hp-touchpad-one-last-batch

They are being sold cheap though.
The last batch of hp touchpads before hp goes out of the hardware pad business.

Or wait & see what google comes up with when/if they take over Motorola.

Looks pretty good for the money, especially considering that it's made by Mattressman (http://www.mattressman.co.uk/) according to several reviews (I'm not kidding).  :D

All of the players at Songcrafters use Adobe Flash, so they won't work with Apple products such as the iPad which don't support Flash. However, the Andy Pad is Android-based so it should work just fine with Songcrafters' players. In fact, it says right on the Andy Pad home page...

The Andy Pad supports the world of Adobe Flash, allowing you to fully experience of the world wide web. Whether it's playing Flash games or streaming Flash video the Andy Pad is dedicated to providing the internet the way it was meant to be viewed.

Are you sure Mrs. ORH will let you have an Andy Pad and a BR-80?  You'll have to be on your best behaviour for quite a while!  Maybe you could buy her a new mattress and get them to throw in an Andy Pad for free. ;D
