Stressin' about compression

Decided to buy myself a nice pedal for Christmas. Thought I might get a Keeley mod done on my Ibanez Tubescreamer (4 mode version) but I don't have a compressor yet so I'm wondering which would be better. How important is a compressor? Am I less of a man for not having one? I tried a Boss once and hated it, so I took it back.

If I get one, which is best? I keep hearing the Keeley is the holy grail of compressors.   Any opinions out there?

Come on, you know you want to go there...

No opinions on pedals but I could not live without compression. More important than an overdrive pedal for me. But it was a key part of my sound, i was very Fripp/Manzanera-ish in my sounds (not my playing unfortunately).

Cheers,

Nigel
