Friends are calling saying they are getting spam from me.
I got one "from me" too, talking about a type of motorcycle I have and suggesting links.
I ran a virus check and got nothing.
It seems more like some forum data base or facebook or online email such as gmail or hotmail has been compromised and they are using the info?
Anyone else?

it's an exact match to my Hotmail address which is what I usually use for online stuff like forums and purchases.
It was accompanied by a few postmaster returns due to bad addresses - they were very old clients

Checking here I see I didn't use it so it's not likely this site.
The jpg is a screen shot of the email

Hey Glenn,

Yeah, I got the one 'from you' too about the motorcycle although it was in my spam folder.

Look guys... the best find out if it's the 'real Glenn' is send 'em an email back and demand that he pull off a red-hot guitar riff to prove it!  :D

I think it's a recent Hotmail hack/leak. I've been getting similar spam from a relative's Hotmail account for the past two days.

The first thing you should do is change your Hotmail password and secret question.

If that doesn't solve the problem, complain to Hotmail support.

Good idea thanks. And I'll kill all the addresses there as I don't use the account for that anyway.

Yahoo have been similarly hacked. Change your passwords regularly people and use a good strong password for everything.

At work I'm fighting an outbreak of a virus, it's sending account details to FTP sites around the world and using hacked web sites to modify itself, making it difficult to pin down. I've seen the stuff that has been transferred up to these sites and it's scary! Some poor chap has 'football' as his facebook password. Not long before he has nice pictures of Pretty Russian Brides for sale as his profile.

Make sure you have a good Antivirus program running on your machine all the time and it's worth downloading a free version of Malware Bytes AntiMalware and running it once a week or so. This should protect you from being hacked.

Or, do a 64Guitars and kick Microsoft into touch. Ubuntu and other Linux based Operating systems are really getting to be useful. And there's lots of freeware available for the Muso.

Oh and Tharek, keep off the sites with the boobs and stuff. It's bad for your eyesight.
